Character hotel

Have stayed several times and like the old character of the hotel. Know exactly what to expect in terms of comfort standards but noticed stairway had been recently newly carpeted which made it safer.

excellent location but arrived too late for dinner (@20.50), but nearby restaurant was extremely helpful with excellent food and service with no sign of closing, just what we needed after a long journey......a very peaceful and calm town

Very pleased with meal at the hotel, But only had 3 hours sleep due to the staff drinking, laughing and banging on table in the courtyard below our bedroom window till 1am then making a noise in the hotel till 3am.

An excellent overnight stop for dinner : breakfast service a little lacking particularly towards late comers (after 9am)

Fabulous food in the restaurant

This was a typically French 'hotel' and we loved it ! The bathroom (and some parts of the building) could have done with up-dating but the room was spacious, the staff were charming and, best of all, dinner in the restaurant was truly magnificent at a very reasonable cost.

The Grand Hotel du Louvre in Valognes

Posted Jul 20, 2011 on Hotels
The Grand Hotel du Louvre is conveniently located in a pleasant small town of Valognes 20 minutes from Cherbourg ferry terminal. The accomodation is simple but clean we had deluxe room which was very spacious although the shower was compact! The food was excellent with pleasant service. Overall good value for a two star hotel.
