Very cozy hostel. Location is really good. It’s safe. And has great kitchen area for cooking your own food. Also has a bar available. Rooms are well kept and showers and bathrooms are in abundance and always kept clean. Staff are very very helpful and friendly. Wifi is really good here. Great place for backpackers

We arrived very late , however we were greeted well and looked after in difficult times by a very nice young man. Breakfast was great , the staff were very friendly and helpful ; we would stay here again , loved the place.

Hostel was in an ideal location within the touristic unesco world heritage area of Valparaiso. Walking distance to everything you wanna see. Rooms clean and beds comfortable. Solid wifi throughout hostel. Breakfast nice with lovely soft bread. No brainer.

Good stay in Valparaiso
Great location, helpful staff spoke English. I only found two bathrooms upstairs (watch your head!), small lockers and children were staying there with families. I had a boiled egg at breakfast, there was bread and cereal. It's worth staying here alone for the fried empanadas just down the street. I mean it.

hi george. thanks for the review. we need to clarify we have 9 shared bathrooms at the hostel, and our breakfast is a buffet one, and includes boiled and fresh eggs (you can cook them as you like), fresh chilean bread, cream chesse, butter, milk caramel spread, jam, 3 kind of cereals, fruits juice, fresh fruits, yogurth, grain & instant coffee and tea in leafs. at the other hand, our lockers are 30x80x60 cms, and there you can put an entire laptop + a camera + a tablet + a phone + a wallet with passport, etc. and finally, we have a bar and love to encourage the adults atmosphere, but also we are kids friendly hostel, because we believe both things can exist at the same place. however, maybe those kinds you met were mezzy, so please accept our opologies. we always try to ask to parents to be responsable in order to the kid's good behavior. best regards and we hope to see you again!

Irresponsible staff.
Since when is booking in advance not respected? The staff forgot to put my name in their system, despite my reservation that I had made almost a week in advance. So when I arrived, they pretty much made it seem like it was my fault. They said the hostel was full and that I had to leave and find another place.

Amazing hostel in Valparaiso
My stay at the hostel was priceless! The staff were professional, friendly, and caring. I would recommend this hostel if you visit Valpo! check in and out was smooth, close by to places to eat and see. The amenities of the hostel were perfect, they have a kitchen for the guests to use and the hostel has 3 private bathrooms which is perfect. The rooms are spacious and the beds are cozy and they have a "treasure chest" type boxes in the rooms to put your belongings in (they can fit a small backpack to a medium size luggage). Def stay in Hostal Casa Volante when you visit Valpo! Finally this hostel has been the best hostel I have ever stayed at!

Great hostel in a tiny side street 15 min walk
The hostel was hard to locate because the street where the hostel is located (Fisher) is a colorful alley full of stairs. You need to climb a couple flights of stairs to get to the hotel and it is located on a one way street so if you pass it you have to go around all over to get there. The hostel was located close enough to the center that we parked the car and walked. We booked two rooms - 1 for 2 and another for 3. The rooms were big and comfortable. The bedroom for 3 had 1 queen bed and 2 twin and the other had a queen bed. The bathrooms are shared but they have a restroom solely for women, another only for men, and a third that is mixed. The staff was very friendly and helped orient us on where to visit. They have a restriction as to noise so after midnight its quiet until about 6 am. They had coffee, tea, bread and fresh fruit available at all time. The house is old so it does creak but the ambiance was amazing and i loved their decoration. My family was hesitant at first but in the end fell in love with its quirkiness and fun decor.

Good option Ina good area
I'm not an expert on hostels, so I can't compare in relation to others, but as an option to stay in Valparaiso, this place is a good option. The location is convenient and the staff attention makes you feel safe. The rooms are built of cheap walling so noise travels easily, but for the price I can't complain too much. No breakfast is a sad fact, but they have free fruit and good wifi.

Central location on Cerro Concepcion
Very friendly English-speaking staff. Helped us with sites to see on and around Concepcion hill. Excellent security-you are let in by staff after ringing bell at door. Hostel-style accommodation with private rooms, shared bath and kitchen facilities. The building is older but well maintained to give you a true rustic experience. Access is from Fischer walkway, which is very picturesque with its multi-coloured steps. The front door is about 30 steps up from Urriola Ave. There are banks and a big shopping mall a short walking distance down Urriola. Make sure the ATM machine displays PLUS or CIRRUS stickers as most machines are for domestic use only! This hostel is about half way up Concepcion hill, and has a bohemian feeling with its crafts and artisans.

Be prepared for stairs!
We are three adult women travelling from Canada via a 17-day luxury cruise-ship experience to get a taste of the real Bohemian Chile. This little hostal was a unique experience that provided us with down-to-earth livability with all the necessities. The beds were warm and comfortable, the communal kitchen was more than adequate, and the common areas were comfortable. Just be prepared for stairs and the city is full of them! We found that our location was excellent with easy access to the train station with its supermarket while the local streets are full of cheap buses and reasonable taxis. Do take bus 612 for a ride to remember. We chose to walk most everywhere so good shoes are a must.

Very good place, close to the downtown in Valparaíso, one of the most beautiful cities in Chile. People in the hostel are very nice. The place is clean and you feel like home. Recommended!

Buntes Hostel im Zentrum
Ein sehr schönes und vor allem buntes Hostel mitten im Zentrum von Valparaiso. Die Zimmer sind grosszügig, das Frühstücksbuffet reichhaltig und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Wir würden wieder hier übernachten.

The worst hostel in Chile!
Expensive and is the worst hostel I have ever stayed. Not safe at all, the staff stole our money and they allowed strange people to get in! They will give whatever the key of any room you ask from them, super unsafe! The staff even lost our room key! The toilet is dirty and no hot water to take shower, is totally not wroth it!!!! Please don’t stay in this hotel

Hi, we are really sorry for your experience, and we always work to make our place better for our guests and staff. the shower and key's issues you mentioned hopefully were solved, so thanks to let us know. side aparts, we should clariffy one important thing: we never stole any money from you, we just charge you the proper amount of your expedia reservation, acording expedia rules, because sadly you guys never cancel the reservation properly at expedia website, so that reservation was al the time active in our software and those beds and rooms in our hostel were all the time locked to resell. Even the expedia staff told you that by phone. We respectully reccomend you guys please make shure what you are doing the next time you book any accomodation, because if you book more rooms that you need or if you make a mistake choosing rooms, and then you dont cancel them properly trought the official way /at the website you booked) the hostel or hotel cannot be responsable for that. best regads and have a good day. mariano cubillos, CEO and Founder

Good location, nice large open area at the entrance, two connected buildings with two kitchens...everything you need is there, but be aware there are many steps to take in the hostel and in Valparaiso in general...

Todo bien en general, algunos detalles como aseo diario en las piezas esta deficiente y el agua de la ducha salio helada y alfinal espere como 15 min y nunca se arreglo. Pero son detalles. Todo lo demas bien.

Para tener en cuenta.Por pagar con tarjeta de crédito me cobraron un recargo de 7%. Te solicitan un depósito por las llaves 5000 pesos chilenos, que los devuelven al final. Después todo bien.

Meilleure hostal de Valpo!!
Le personnel est très accueillant et toujours prêt à répondre aux questions. L'auberge est joliment décorée et très sûre. Il faut sonner pour rentrer (24h/24h il y a quelqu'un à la réception). Chaque chambre possède sa propre clé. Les chambres sont propres, les draps sont changés régulièrement. L'auberge fournit également les essuies. Le salon est confortable et permet aux voyageurs de partager des moments ensemble. Il y a également une télé. Le petit-déjeuner est compris dans le prix et est servi tous les jours entre 8h et 11h. Il se compose de pain, céréales, fruits, thé, café, lait, yaourt, pâte à tartiner, confitures. Le règlement impose des heures de silence entre 1h et 7h, les nuits sont très calmes. L'auberge dispose de plusieurs salles de bain (hommes / femmes). L'auberge est en fait divisée en deux maisons avec deux salons, deux cuisines et une terrasse. Des barbecues sont organisés tous les lundis et les vendredis. L'auberge est située dans le Cerro Concepcion, le centre historique de Valpo. Il s'agit d'un des quartiers les plus sûrs avec Cerro Alegre. Tout se trouve à deux pas de là, il y a également des bus pour se rendre à Viña.

En general todo perfecto con el hotel, pero el tema de la limpieza es un poco precaria, me refiero principalmente a la zona del baño compartido, hace falta limpiarla más a menudo y bien. Es el único problema del hostel, pero es algo muy importante. Y que saquen a los gatitos que dejan mal olor en el lugar.

The hostel is located directly in the street art heart of Valpo. the breakfast with fresh fruit was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful and very honest (I forgot my GoPro in the room and they made me aware of this at the checkout!) . Highly recommended.

Personalet er meget søde og hjælpsomme og der er styr på tingene. Alt er meget slidt, så det er svært at vurdere, hvor rent der er. Morgenmaden er helt enkel, men der er havregryn, lækker frisk frugt og frugtsalat hver dag. Vi havde et pænt stort værelse til to voksne og to børn og savnede ikke noget. Pris og kvalitet hænger fint sammen.

Super bien situé !
L hotel est dans un passage superbe ! Il a un cote auberge de jeunesse sympa. Très bons conseils à notre arrivée pour nous faire découvrir la ville. Notamment le bus O numéro 612 pour rejoindre la sebastiana, maison de pablo neruda. petit conseil : si vous voulez aller à l'hôtel en bus depuis le terminal il faut monter ds un bus qui indique P.Montt ou Aduana comme destination et s'arrêter à Prat puis terminer à pied en prenant Uriola puis le passage Fischer.

El personal es amable, el hotel es aceptable y está relativamente bien ubicado: está en el cerro Concepción, pero no tiene buena vista. En la escalinata con la que deslinda el hostal, se instaló un grupo de hombres y mujeres gritones que no se fueron hasta las 5.30 a.m. Imposible dormir. Agradecemos que la persona de turno a cargo les pidió que se fueran. Por otra parte, no se entiende por qué no les entregan llaves a los huéspedes. Tocar el timbre significa despertar a los demás. En nuestro caso, estuvimos como 20 minutos esperando que nos abrieran. Eso fue molesto para nosotros y me imagino que también para los que oían el timbre.

Hotel très agréable
Très bon accueil, de nombreux conseils; La chambre est très spacieuse et calme, lit confortable. La salle de bain est propre et grande, la cuisine très fonctionnelle avec possibilité de se faire à manger, le salon très agréable avec une très belle décoration dans l'ensemble des pièces.
