Welcome to Adequatetown

My wife and I recently stayed one night here for a weekend trip to Vancouver. While we had no major complaints, there were a few things about the hotel that disappointed.
The location is a little odd. The hotel rises above a fairly low end shopping mall in downtown Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver BC. The mall and the surrounding businesses are predominantly Chinese speaking. There are a number of decent low to mid priced restaurants of several varieties nearby (mostly Asian cuisine).
Parking at the hotel is not included in the room fee. I expect to pay extra for parking in a major metropolitan area, but in the suburbs it stings a little.
Our room (a King Suite) was clean and adequately furnished, but small. In fact, the total footprint of the suite was smaller than that of many single rooms I have experienced in other hotels.
Our view was of the courtyard of the mall, with other buildings nearby. I was conscious of their ability to see right into our windows from across the courtyard, and for the first time I can remember in a long time I had to be very careful about keeping the drapes closed when changing.
Overall, I was happy with the staff and the cleanliness of the room. I would not be opposed to staying here again, but if I can find a larger room in a better location nearby for a comparable price, I would take it.
