We really enjoyed our short stay in Vancouver. The hotel was in a perfect location, walked to restaurants, shops and easy to get around using the public transportation.

Pros: Cleanliness. Upkeep. Super comfy pillows and beds!
Location: In the heart of the city. Surrounded by everything you could want.
A very nice clean hotel. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was nice and food pretty good, we had the brunch. On the downside..There was a miscommunication in the booking and we ended up paying extra for a cot in one of the rooms we booked that was to be a room with 2 beds but it only had a king bed. We had ordered and prepaid for a cot for our second room on booking and did not need it because the extra guest cancelled last minute. But instead of just putting that cot in the king bed room we had to pay for the extra cot and would receive no credit for the unused one, in the next room! No refunds was their reasoning. Probably should not have mentioned it and just moved the cot ourselves! So cost us $60 plus tip to the delivery person for the cots. Not good customer service or fair business practice.

Dear Joanne, Greetings from the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and thank you for your comment on our convenient location. We are sorry for the confusion on the roll away bed charge. Expedia site is not able to prepay roll away bed charge, the addition that you paid was for the extra person charge. We are sorry for the confusion. Best regards, Danny Guest Services Manager

Fine for the price in the middle of summer

Posted Aug 27, 2017
Pros: Easy location, not crowded with tourists.
Cons: Lobby was updated as was the room, I assume they will be working on the hallways next as they are very dim and stale feeling.
This hotel is in a bit of a funky area in Vancouver, Frankly, I thought I had booked a Holiday Inn in a different locaiton! However, it was very easy to walk or grab a taxi and go anywhere in the city. The room was comfortable and was a reasonable rate for August.

Great location. Restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Also a short walk to the waterfront and paved path to Granville Island.

Misinformed staff caused several issues.

Posted Jul 25, 2017
We received wrong information about so many things from the front desk staff throughout our stay. 1- we asked for the price of a cot and were misquoted. Manager would not adjust it on our final bill. 2- we were told we could bike on Granville bridge: not true and do not attempt!!- it is extremely dangerous. Manager did not believe us when we told him. 3- we asked for sushi restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood and the staff had nothing to suggest. The hotel was in a great location, not too far from downtown and attractions. If you are going in for business and do not need to interact with the staff, this is a fine hotel. The room was clean and the cleaning staff extremely sweet as per other holiday inns. However, the staff and management were subpar.

Affordable and Convenient

Posted Jun 11, 2017
Pros: Staff were helpful and we found the facilities good. We had to do laundry and the guest laundry was clean and easy to use.
Cons: Nothing that can easily be changed, only comment is that rooms are compact.
Location: Location is good, and the views over Vancouver from at least the east facing rooms is spectacular.
We selected this hotel as it is located close to the Canada Line train to YVR and is also easy to commute to downtown for sight seeing. It is just three short blocks from City Hall station. The on site restaurant serves good meals, including a hot breakfast (charged separately to room).

Close to medical appointments and hospital

Posted Jun 8, 2017
Pros: Close to hospitals and medical appointments
Cons: Front desk customer service could be improved.
Location: Pacific Centre is about a 7-10 minute cab ride and Edgewater Casino is an $8 fare. There are a fair amount of restaurants near by that are quite good.
We stayed at the Holiday in for 4 days month prior. Wanted to book for another day the following month, so I tried doing that at the front desk, but I was told to just book through Expedia. I was a bit surprised, so I walked away and booked on Expedia per front desk personnel recommendation. Unfortunately the medical office contacted me after booking through Expedia that the appointment was moved one day ahead, so I contacted Expedia and went through quite an unpleasant performance to move date ahead by one day. Expedia rep ended up having to get "special permission" from the hotel to move the date and then I was told the room rate was another $100 more. I thought how could that be, given mid week. So, when we checked into the hotel, I asked the lady at the front desk and all she could say it was peak season.. really.. one day, could you not have accomodated?? We most likely won't stay here again as first of all being told to book through Expedia so they didn't have to make any effort in booking for us, and then being required to get an exception to change dates by one day, just doesn't seem like good customer service. Not to mention, no one seems to have any common sense these days. We didn't change our appointments, the physician did and we ended up paying dearly for it.
