Wonderful staff and a great hotel

Posted Mar 28, 2017
Pros: The pool, the buffet and the great staff
Cons: nothing I can think of
Location: Convenient location and can be reached by the Canada Line ($5) from the airport, or take the Canada Line into Vancouver Tons of shopping nearby
I wanted to treat my 2 grand-daughters to a hotel stay over Spring Break from school and chose the River Rock. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel very special by 2 excellent employees. The front office manager Miss Cavell Au was most accommodating and the Buffet Host Kevin Vargas was also outstanding. The hotel pool has a water slide which provided 3 hours of fun for the little girls. The water was warm and not too deep---perfect for youngsters. Our King bedded suite was lovely, clean and very quiet even though the hotel is situated close to the Vancouver airport. The bed was SO comfortable! We enjoyed the buffet---not cheap but within the realm of reasonable for what was available. Roast beef, ham, shrimp, sushi, etc. all the food was pleasantly presented and well prepared. There is complimentary parking in their parkade or valet for a nominal charge.

Tacky and noisy

Posted Mar 26, 2017
Pros: The concierge, Pedro, went to great effort to make sure that we saw all of the highlights of Vancouver.
Cons: I don't have enough years in my life to list them. More attention to the condition of the room would be a start.
Location: Awful location. In the flight path of the airport, so when they give you a "top floor" room, prepare to see jets barreling at your window!!
While they claim to have water views, we had a lovely "city view", which was of a train station. It was also in the flight path to the Vancouver airport - with flights barreling in overhead at 2.00 AM in the morning!! We had dinner at their "gourmet Italian restaurant", and what a joke! It was twice the price of any good restaurant a short drive into Vancouver, and the food was only mediocre. Our server kept switching accents during the course of the evening, sometimes he was French, other times he was Italian, and other times just kind of inattentive. The room was quite dull, except that the bathroom door would not close, and when the AC came on in the room, it would blow open. We actually began to laugh at what a comedy of errors this hotel is. The only saving grace is their concierge, Pedro. He was a font of information, and followed up on everything he committed to doing for our visit. We were grateful for his efforts, and it's what kept us from giving this place a "one star" rating. If you're an elderly Chinese retiree looking to spend the weekend in front of penny slots, this is the place for you. Otherwise, drive another 20 minutes into Vancouver for a better experience, and a memory of Vancouver that does not elicit laughter and swearing when you think back on your visit.

Friendly staff and comfortable stay

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Pros: Amenities. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, etc.
Cons: Wait time in the coffee shop.
Location: Good location close to the airport, access to Richmond, etc.
Although I only stayed one night, I found the staff very friendly. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The coffee shop downstairs was a bit of a wait in the morning, but apart from that it was all good.

Spacious and comfortable

Really enjoyed this experience. For a nominal price we were able to upgrade to a king suite. It was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and linens felt like you were sleeping on a cloud. Absolutely wonderful.

Great Hotel at a moderate price

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: See above.
Cons: Their high end restaurant Tramonto seemed somewhat overpriced to me, but the staff was attentive and provided a generally positive experience.
Location: Anything you want to do or see in Vancouver is available via Skytrain access.
I found the hotel clean, modern with a very friendly staff. Instant access to the Skytrain makes all of Vancouver easily accessible. Highly recommended.

Convenient hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: Convenience
Cons: Restaurants could be improved. The buffet is below par. Curve is limited in its menu
Location: shopping at Oakridge Mall, Richmond Centre, downtown Vancouver. All are accessible by Skytrain which is conveniently by the hotel.
A pleasant stay. Safe and secure parking. Central to downtown Vancouver as well as other cities on the Lower Mainland. Skytrain very handy.
