Perfect location

Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, with the decor looking back in time. Cool air - yes you can open the windows - from English Bay kept us comfortable. The view to the bay is world class.

Nice old hotel in good location.

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Pros: Location, pet friendly, reasonable rates.
Cons: Install air conditioning, upgrade the key system.
Location: Close to the beach, lots of restaurants, walking distance to the Granville Island ferry, bus stop closeby.
We stayed 2 nights at The Sylvia. It is pet friendly, so we had lots of nice walks on the beach.

PERFECT LOCATION

Great older style hotel in a perfect location on the beach at English Bay. There's a nice restaurant and bar that has delicious food at reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation for a Vancouver stay.

Nice hotel with perfect location

Posted Jun 16, 2017
Pros: The beach view from the bar/restaurant.
Cons: Build a ramp at the entrance to roll luggage through to the hotel lobby.
Location: The location is excellent, and all our vacation activities are within walking or biking distance of the hotel with bus stops also close by.
My sister and I recently stayed at the Sylvia Hotel during our vacation to Vancouver on May 18-20, 2017. The room was very accommodating and clean. Nothing luxurious, but we were very pleased with our stay and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff were all very helpful and attentive to our needs. Don't miss the jazz on the nights when it's offered. Also, one of the highlights of our stay was dinner and drinks in the hotel bar & restaurant. The view is spectacular, and the food is fabulous. Don't skip on the calamari appetizer! It was the best I've ever eaten.

Great location on English Bay Beach!

Posted May 26, 2017
Spent three days here for business in a three room queen suite. Amazing views - with spacious comfortable and clean space. Windows open wide which is great and views of mountains and ocean a huge plus. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as markets if you want to do your own cooking in the kitchen. Steps from Stanley Park and a fifteen minute walk to Robson and shopping. Good food (not great, but good) and sunset views in the bar/restaurant and a friendly, relaxed vibe. All in all, well worth it! Would stay at the Sylvia again in a second.

Quiet hotel on English Bay

Posted May 24, 2017
Pros: The Sylvia was comfortable, quiet, and the view was excellent. I had purchased a 5-day tour package and they picked me up at the door.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Location: The Sylvia is right on English Bay so you can walk on the Sea Wall. Also close to Denman St for restaurants and great fruit markets.
The Sylvia has a lot of character and the view of English Bay from the dining room is wonderful. The room had been recently redecorated and was spacious and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Being right on the Sea Wall made it convenient for walking. The hop on hop off bus stop was nearby. I would certainly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.
