oasis

This hotel is lovel with a very accommodating staff. The hotel's major drawback is also its major asset -- it's more like a resort than a city hotel. So while it's prettyinconvenient to walk anywhere to sightsee or eat, the hotel -- with its lovely pool and spa -- is a great retreat from the action and heat of the city, particularly if you're travelling with kids.

Very disappointed that this hotel is advertised for families. Yet there is NO child menu at all. I was told that there could be slide of cheese and a slice of tomato made up for her. She is two! That's not a meal. Food and drinks were ridiculously priced and lunch time food was not great. No bathroom near the pool area was crazy! If you are soaking wet from the pool you have to wait to dry and re dress every time to go pass the check in desk to use bathroom.

Dear Guest, thank you so much for your visit. While grateful for the overall appreciation of your experience, we are surprisingly regretful for your comments related to the gastronomic experience. Since our property is family friendly, I wish to ensure that we do take seriously the children's needs trying to accomodate each request without a specific kid menu, which they all propose the same items. Instead, we prefer to tailor make a nice, fresh dish according to our small customers needs. Remaining at your disposal for any further information, we hope to welcome you back to Gran Meliá Rome for you next visit to the Eternal City. Kindest regards, Maria Ansalone Guest Experience Manager

Oasis in the city

Posted Jul 29, 2017
Pros: Service and staff were very friendly. The pool and outside facilities were excellent. Location was closer to the centre and perfect for the Vatican.
Cons: Sometimes the service felt a bit pushy for my tastes e.g. laying out your towel on a sun lounger for you - I prefer a more relaxed approach
Location: Close walk to the centre and next door to Vatican city.
The hotel was most definitely a 5 star experience and if you like everything doing for you then this is the place for you. Everything was effortless and the service was excellent. Occasionally I found it over-fussy though it might be my personal taste. But if you like rose petals left on the bath mat as well as chocolates on your pillow then you're in for a treat. I was travelling alone though this would be perfect for couples. The hotel is up on a hill though only a short stroll into the centre - you would need to be on the top two floors though to get a view. If you continue up the hill there are the most marvellous views across Rome.

Pros: leaving the hotel. the pool wasn't bad either.
Cons: everything. i hate this hotel
Had all my cash, credit card and daughters passport stolen from my room. it was bad enough that the power plugs didn't didn't work, the phones didn't work and the staff was rude. never want to go back

Unusual combination of resort in Rome

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Genuinely beautiful resort right next to Vatican and ancient city. Wonderful facilities and very nice staff. Not a fan of the 'Red Level' service application at the Meliá in Rome. We've really enjoyed the benefits of that service level at some other properties, thruway was ridiculously stingy- i.e. No bottled water in their lounge despite heatwave.

Dear Guest, thank you very much for choosing our property and expressing your high appreciation of our unique concept in Rome: luxury urban resort in the heart of the Eternal City. We do regret to realize that you did not appreciate our RedLevel concept though, since it reprersents a personalized service meant to make it further exclusive for our guests. Among its benefits, it provides the RedLevel Lounge, which is a beautiful, private area where to enjoy drinks and canapés along the day. We are regrettably surprised to learn of lack of bottled waterand wish to apologize for this, given that the Lounge is always carefully supervised by our team members and it very popular during this period of the season. Considering your high appreciation of the overall experience, we are already expecting you back to your house in Rome to keep enjoying your experience. Arrivederci, Maria Ansalone Guest Experience Manager

Very nice hotel with great location. Rooms are a bit small but I think that is very normal for Europe. Pool is awesome!!

Excellent option near the Vatican

Posted May 31, 2017
Could see the top of Saint Peter's from our room window. Nice garden and restaurant. Room service was a bit lacking in terms of availability of options and service. But overall, very nice.

Stunning Setting

Posted May 24, 2017
Villa Agrippina is a marvellous location; sufficiently convenient for the Campus Martius; the Vatican and the bars and restaurants of Trastevere while maintaining a secluded feeling rare in a capital city. The facility itself is opulent while restrained; and the pool area every bit as stunning as the photos would suggest. Staff are friendly and welcoming (although less au fait with Expedia VIP guidelines than one would hope - no upgrades, late check-outs or other benefits offered) and the rooms and beds are comfortable and spacious. Have been before; would go again.
