Charming in every aspect

Posted Sep 1, 2016
Pros: The age and charm of the structure. The staff and food. Had great wifi.
Location: In the heart of everything. Easy walking distance.
This was our first trip to Provence. This is a wonderful and beautiful hotel in one of the very nice old stone buildings in Avignon. From the linen to the old school room key kept in the lobby wall slots, this hotel takes you back to a time when a hotel staff really cared that you stayed with them and made every attempt to make your visit memorable. The staff was very accomadating and tolerated our less than feeble attempt at French. The food was fabulous! The highlight of our trip was an evening in the chef's kitchen with an eight course meal with wine pairing. Better than any modern hotel you will ever visit!

The staff is very friendly and professional, very educated and cultural. The parking is done by hotel staff which is great especially in small towns in Europe.

Expecting more from a 5 star

Posted Jan 22, 2016
Pros: Nice view close to main square.
Cons: Cleaning staff need to know what belongs to the hotel and what doesn't. Also if it's on the menu then it should be available.
The room was great, the front of house staff were polite and generous. We had a child's bathrobe erroneously removed from our room by one of the staff who obviously thought it belonged to the hotel. It didn't it belonged to us and had been bought at another hotel. Honest mistake the only issue is they couldn't find it after it was taken out of our room by the cleaning staff. So we were out a very nice robe that we bought for our daughter which is costly to replace. The other issue is that we went to have dinner there and 3 of the 5 dishes on the menu were sold out. So when you pay for 5 star service you expect 5 star service. Having items essentially stolen from our room is a real issue and a first for me. I understand how it could happen however it ought not to have. Would recommend trying somewhere else.

Central location but quiet which is good

Excellent stay in lovely hotel. Very comfortable and pleasant staff. Would have been great to have tea and coffee making facility in room. Didn't sample restaurant but excellent choices nearby.
