OK if you're looking for a place to sleepPosted Jul 28, 2015 on Hotels
I think the very positive ratings that prompted us to stay here must have been written by the owners' relatives. The bed was clean and comfortable, and it was OK for a one-night stay when all you need is sleep. Breakfast was sparse -- but there was a Texas-shaped waffle maker in good working order; the pool was closed, and looked as if it had not been open for a very long time; cracked concrete; cooking odors in the reception area.Courteous reception and responsive to our requests.$10 charge for pets.

Route 66 Vega TexasPosted Jun 29, 2015 on Hotels
If hotels are filling up in Amarillo - this orignal Route 66 hotel is an excellent choice for a decent rate only 40 miles west of Amarillo with easy off and on access to I-40. The rooms are up-to-date and well maintained - clean. The pool was under maintenance and not open. Vega has two restaraunts and gas stations, but there is no real shopping opportunity in the area. The owner should consider opening a gift shop with Route 66 memorabilia and convenience items.

The room was a little dated. The door was older and the locks need to be upgraded. Overall I was comfortable and would stay there again.

Needs updatesPosted Jun 16, 2015
Staff was excellent and very helpful but the hotel overall was outdated. The room smelled of mildew, the AC was loud and barely worked and the bathtub had several small dead bugs in it. However, the bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable.

Loss of powerPosted Jun 5, 2015 on Hotels
The motel is a typical medium priced motel. Small room but clean. Unfortunately, we lost power because of a storm and was unable to shower in the morning and there was no breakfast available because of the power loss. Not the motels fault but they offered no compensation.

To high priced for the locationPosted Aug 6, 2014
The price was to much for the room and the location. The room was unclean it had dead flies in the bathroom and sink area. The front door had some strange lock on it. The bed sheets had stains on them and hairs from the last guest . I was so tired after driving 600 miles I just went to sleep and made the best if it. Very unsatisfied with this hotel. I only stay at best westerns cause I am a best western club member. I should have got my money back from this hotel it was nasty.

Not Worth The MoneyPosted Jul 6, 2011
Had to listen to a dripping faucet all night, the air did not work, and rock hard beds and let’s not talk about the breakfast; I think they drained the oil from a car to make that coffee. Cheap and not worth what I paid!
