Hotel employee training necessary

The hotel is under renovation. The new mattreses were comfortable and the room was clean. The front desk was friendly and helpful. Upon leaving the room at checkout though, a hotel employee patted my stomach and congratulated me on my "pregnancy". I am NOT pregnant. She continued to insist that I was. It left me terribly upset to say the least considering that I am of an average weight.

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in!

My husband and I travel quite a bit. We had family visiting us so I decided to spend a bit more on a hotel room than I usually do. Never again. The check-in was so slow and the clerk never told me what the hold-up was until I asked. When we finally got to our room after an exhausting day there was a maintenance man there fixing the window shade, check-in was 4pm and yet this man still hadn't had a chance to fix our shade. If that wasn't bad enough, we pain $179 for the room, there was no clock or phone. We asked the front desk for an alarm clock which of course never materialized. The room was even worse, whoever designed this should be fired. The beds were so close to the wall, only 6 inches that I was barely able to get out during the night to go to the bathroom, I weigh 114 lbs so I can't imagine how someone who was heavier would be able to get out of the bed. Finally as if to add insult when I dropped off the key's to the room I was never asked how my stay was, the staff at the front desk was too interested in talking to his fellow staff members. I have never experienced with any other hotel room we have stayed in. Needless to say I will NEVER stay at a Holiday Inn again.

Renovation disclosure.

It would have been nice to know hotel was being renovated during our stay. Some of us like me have allergies to construction dust and fresh paint. At 1st, we were put in a room on the 1st floor that was just renovated and had construction/new paint smell, management gladly changed us to a room on the 4th floor that suited us. Plus for a security concern, I prefer anything but a first floor room. In all, our stay at the hotel, was accomodating, nice and pleasant close many planned excursions.

A lot of little things add up

Little things added up. Tub dripped, no curtains! - only sheers so light shined in all night, AC very noisy, plugs only on one nightstand not the other, no plugs at all on desk! One of those wouldn’t be so bad, but all together gave me a bad impression!

We were initially given a keycard to an occupied room. Keycard didn’t work each evening and had to wait at desk to be reprogrammed. We were only given 2 towels each day with 4 registered guests and again had to wait at desk to request towels. Stairway doors were left propped open our entire stay. There was no parking available and had to park at hotel next door and walk back. Hotel is under renovation and is in poor condition. Definitely not worth the $225 a night charged!!

Renovating, but current condition terrible

Pros: Location close to our friends. Breakfast and food staff Easy access to major roads
Cons: They are renovating, but put people in dumpy old rooms in the meantime.
Foam beds sleep like side of mountain, sag. Nasty non-slip surface of tub with black spots. Dark room. Ice machine on 1st floor doesn't work, and they know it. 3rd floor ice machine worked. Front desk staff incompetent and snotty. One told me he isn't paid enough. Asked for 2nd room because my buddy snored, they assured us they had our reservation, that night, nothing. Breakfast was pretty good. Food and housekeeping staff pleasant and helpful. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, many Holiday inn Express, this was worst I've seen. Lousy value for money.
