Perfect for a romantic break

Posted Feb 20, 2017
Pros: Large, comfortable room. Spa bath. Good range of breakfast items. Baroque-style decor. Picturesque location.
Cons: Aside from the air conditioning controls not working, everything was great.
The Hotel Ca' Alvise is the perfect base for a mini break in beautiful Venice. The hotel is located a short walk from the major routes between Rialto and Piazza San Marco - an ideal location for exploring. The hotel itself is charmingly over-the-top decor wise in both bedrooms and dining rooms, a great attempt at capturing the glitzy heyday of this one-great city state. The staff speak excellent English and French (as well as Italian), so you should have no trouble getting the help you need. Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

Budget stay

Posted Dec 17, 2016
This hotel is fantastic for a central location - we were minutes away from main tourist attractions. Even though we asked for a double bed in a platinum room, we had two singles pushed together. The breakfast included in the price was not good quality of food. Most days we could only manage to eat just the toast.

Lovely rooms and lovely staff

Location: Centrally located - so easy to get anywhere. And my son says "it's easier to find your way back to it because it's by a small bridge!"
Very nice classical decor. And (for Venice) good value

Location Good, Hotel Okay

Posted Oct 19, 2016 on Hotels
Excellent location, on a (relatively) quite street near the tourist sites. Front desk service helpful and pleasant. Hotel itself just okay: full of curious, mismatched furniture, with no elevator, and funny hallways that go up and down stairs. Room was acceptable but dark; it looked a little better in the photos. Breakfast was minimal -- rolls, cereal, and coffee served in a windowless back room. (There were runny eggs and sausages sitting out for an extra price; no one seemed tempted.) I'd stay here again for location and price; not for sophistication, elegance or romance.

not worth the money

Posted Aug 19, 2016 on Hotels
this hotel is listed as a 4* but that's only because there is a breakfast area. the place hasn't been updated since the 60's. the bed was like a mat on concrete and 2 twins pushed together... but not secured, so if anyone is moving in the bed, they separate. the hotel is located a short walk from saint marks and about a 10m walk from/to the vaparetto stop at Rialto. breakfast was good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is excellent in the room.i guess the "romantic decay" is what Venice is all about but, not my style. for the money, they need to offer a better bed and amenities.

Perfect position

Posted Jul 18, 2016 on Hotels
First visit to Venice to see the sights. Not sure where to base ourselves but picked the perfect spot. So many places can be reached in five minutes (subject of course to accurate navigation!)The hotel is a terrific base to explore the city.

Close to Everything

Pros: being so central
Cons: they should not use those rooms on the second floor - it`s like an insult - you feel like being singled out for punishment
Location: San Marco in one direction and Rialto in the other are only a few minutes away by foot
It`s really central although you can waste some time looking for it. It`s a small hotel , no elevator and the rooms are not at entrance level but up the first level - most of them except 2 that are separate on the second level - on a very steep flight of steps and so it seems reserved for those of us that - like me -made their reservation through your site . Some rooms are really vividly decorated like the picture on the internet which we could see while peeking through when they were making them up except ours that was rather plain - again as if putting us the farthest , highest and most difficult place in the hotel was not enough . They definitely have something against your site . But again it`s very central , breakfast is good , it`s clean , the bed is all right so for a short stay - or by CAREFULLY choosing a normal room you can enjoy it !
