Good location. Good hotel with friendly staff.Posted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: The location was good and easy to get too.
Cons: The bedroom pillows need to be replaced...unless you like flat, hard pillows.
Location: Easy walk to the train station and once you get your bearings, lots of restaurants & shops nearby. The water taxis stop right at the hotel.
They originally has us in an "upgraded" room away from the main hotel and up a set of stairs to an entry sitting room and up a second set of stairs to the bedroom and bathroom and a small deck off the bedroom. The sitting room was wasted space and the bedroom/bathroom really tiny so we paid a small extra for an upgrade in the main hotel and slightly larger sleeping/sitting area and bathroom. Good facilities, well taken care of and friendly, helpful staff.

Boutique hotel.. renovated in 2008Posted Oct 1, 2015
Cons: .......Perhaps more hot choices at breakfast
Location: Easy access to everything and nice to be away from the chaos of St Marks.
This delightful hotel, situated in a renovated personal residence on the Grand Canal, near the train station is a find. Our 2 night stay was wonderful......the hotel staff spoke great English and were extremely helpful in planning our stay and giving directions. . The rooms were very clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated in the Venetian style; the marble bathroom was spacious with bathrobes. The breakfast buffet was good. The best hot chocolate ever. The small patio on the canal provided a great place to sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset.... It was very quiet as well. During our stay, we had a medical emergency and the staff were efficient and caring and responded immediately by contacting emergency hospital services ...a water ambulance arrived in short order. Happily all worked out well.

You will not regret staying here!Posted Sep 29, 2015
Pros: Staff, deck, location
Location: Great location, very close to train station, restaurants. San Marco Plaza, Doge's Palace, and Rialto bridge are an easy walk.
I cannot express how amazed we were with this hotel. We booked our room at the last minute (due to a cancellation, I'm guessing) for the last two nights of our honeymoon, and we were super pleased that we did because everything about this hotel was top notch. We stayed in 5 total hotels (all 4+ star, I might add) over the course of two weeks and this was by far the best. Our favorite part was what you DON'T see in the photos: they recently built a deck on the front that hangs over the water and is at your disposal at any time. It has 3 small tables on it and we spent many hours on the deck just watching traffic go by on the Grand Canal (and possibly pretending to be movie stars). The staff here was also excellent - we checked in a full 3 hours early and they didn't blink an eye. They were always ready to help with restaurant suggestions, drinks, printing out boarding passes for the flight home, etc. The only thing I could possibly complain about here (and this isn't really a complaint) is that our room was small. However, that is typical for Europe. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway, other than to sleep (the bed was amazing, by the way). We stayed in one of the rooms in the "new" part of the hotel and we didn't feel like we were out of the way at all. The location of the hotel in general was great too. Just steps to the train station and not too far from the main attractions of Venice. Book this hotel, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent location,Posted Sep 22, 2015
The Canal Grade was in an excellent location, away from the big crowds, nice and quiet but close to the culture of the city. We love walking so we walked until we dropped covering all areas of the city only getting a ticket on the waterbuses once in our four day stay. There are plenty of nice restaurants within the vacinity which are reasonable in price compared to nearer St Marks square. The hotel staff were very helpful and very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We were in the separate building, however this did not detract from the main hotel, the room was lovely and this made it extra special for my partners 60th birthday suprise. The breakfast was adequate and the waiting on staff lovely. The Canal Grade is close to all the transport links, i had booked a shared water taxi from the airport which dropped us off at the hotel. however the bus was only 8 euros and 20 mins ride to return to the arport, and only a ten minute walk from the hotel. A visit to the Bell Tower in St marks Square is well worth going to, fabulous views of the city accessed by a lift up and down, no stairs to climb. We were also blessed by the weather and had a fabulous time. If we return to Venice in the future i would without a doubt return to the Canal Grande.

besondere familiäre AtmosphärePosted Sep 11, 2015
Pros: Service / Personal
altes Haus, klein und eng ... Venedig eben. Aber der persönliche und sehr zuvorkommende Service mit den wirklich reizenden Mitarbeitern haben den Aufenthalt besonders gemacht.

Nice hotel with a quiet piazza next to the canalPosted Sep 6, 2015
This hotel is quiet and comfortable and is tucked away on a piazza that is largely free of the hoards of tourists elsewhere in the City. The breakfast deck overlooks the canal. Staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful.

Elegant hotel on the canalPosted Sep 2, 2015
We had a weeks stay here & loved every minute, from the moment we stepped off the boat straight into the hotel (huge bonus as it saves dragging your cases around the streets & over the bridges), there was a friendly & warm welcome from staff. Nothing was too much trouble, & the service was excellent. The hotel was exceptionally clean & the rooms elegantly furnished. The hotel is right on the canal but away from the crowds, so a restful location, still within easy reach of the sights by foot or I would recommend the Vaporetto ( water bus) where ever you stay in Venice for ease of getting around. There are some fabulous places to eat nearby: Al Garzon & Ostaria Al Vecio Pozzo were our favourites. I would recommend this hotel highly & we would definitely go back here if we visit Venice again. For us, this was a perfect week!

Perfect LocationPosted Sep 1, 2015
Pros: Attention to the smallest detail e.g knowing all the guests name
Location: Perfect location
Perfect Location and a quality hotel. It was a 10 minute walk to the main square and a short walk to the train station.
