Hotel Amenities

Spacious and quiet, Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal's lobby exemplifies the hotel's blend of contemporary and traditional. An enclosed entrance courtyard contains columns and a molded ceiling, while elevators display a Renaissance-era Grand Canal scene. Two conversation/reading areas include bookshelves, a glass ceiling, a glass-enclosed garden, a classic Italian wellhead, plentiful potted greenery, a collection of rustic artisan's stools, and mosaic-tile panels created by a noted Italian artist.

Open for guests to explore when they are not being used for parties and meetings, the restored Sala del Ridotto (assembly room) and 8 salons surrounding it glow with color, frescoes, marbles, mirrors, and stucco moldings--all virtually indistinguishable from the original 17th-century palazzo's rooms that were depicted in many treasured Venetian paintings.

Business-friendly amenities include 24-hour business center and free WiFi. The hotel staff speak fluent English.

Nearby Things to Do

The Lido of Venice, the slender, 11.5-km-long (7.25-mile) island facing the Adriatic Sea that lies a 15-minute waterbus ride east of central Venice, is the city's playground, especially in summer when beaches and water sports draw visitors and Venetians. Year-round, visitors rent bicycles to explore the island, play golf, or take horseback rides. Aside from fishing in the canals, the central city offers little in the way of recreational opportunities. Deep-sea fishing is available in the Adriatic Sea.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Pros: Cleanliness of room, attention to detail and location.
Cons: Restaurant food just that little bit extra and bit of upgrading on decor. It was Christmas time but no evidence in bar area.
Location: Fantastic location stones throw to San Marco piazza couldn't be much better.
Excellent rooms small but very authentic and everything you could need in rooms. Bed turned down at night with chocolate too lovely touch. Restaurant and bar area bit tired but great service although expensive. Had dinner one night for my husband's birthday treat delicious but having dined in many excellent restaurants, not quite up to standard I expected for price charged. Would definitely come again location excellent and rooms very traditional and cleanliness fantastic very hard to beat!

Pros: The staff and experience was great. We had a tour of historical rooms in the hotel, where casanova was known to frequent, interesting!
Cons: price, some rooms beds are a bit stiff/old.
Location: Its near St. Marks square and right on the canal, easy to get anywhere!
Staff were great and always helpful. Rooms seemed expensive, though that may be Venice overall. Occassionally we get bumped up to a nicer room, which is wonderful. We have always had a view of the grand canal, life doesn't get much better!

Pros: Everything except the dining.
Cons: See above
Location: Beautiful central location. Even on this our third visit to Venice we always had things to see and places to visit.
This hotel is one of many in that area offering first class facilities in a wonderful location. My Wife and I were bitterly disappointed with both the cost and the quality of the breakfast provided. We expected to pay top prices for meals in that location, but for top prices we expected a top quality dining experience. The hot buffet was the biggest disappointment, with luke warm poor quality food. Thank goodness we didn't pay for breakfasts when we booked. We learned from our experience on the first morning and breakfasted elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.

We had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel and dealing with their great, competent, courteous and helpful staff. The hotel is strategically located, is right on the Great Canal and has one of the best waterfront restaurants. Among other services they also have complimentary boat ride to Murano Island where you can watch the artisans make famous Murano glassware, as well as purchase their handmade chandeliers, jewelry and other glass artworks made by numerous other artists. We will highly recommend anybody to stay in this wonderful Hotel.

Superb location. Room temp hard to control. Had to unplug TV to charge phone! Housekeeping failed to refill toilet paper. Staff spoke somewhat limited English. Could not get dinner reservation either night. Great location, but needs updates, esp. at that price.
