Kosher hotel in the heart of Jewish Venice

Posted Dec 21, 2016
Pros: Location, staff, kosher facilities and set-up for Shabbat.
Cons: Nothing, really, especially at this price.
Location: It's in the Jewish Ghetto. The station is a 15-min. walk away, as is the Grande Canal and water transport which will take you anywhere in Venice.
This hotel is ideal for the Jewish traveller seeking an hotel which is reasonably priced yet accommodates the rules of Shabbat. It is in the same courtyard as the Jewish museum, which offers tours of the five synagogues in the Ghetto Nuovo. It is also close to two kosher restaurants (one in the hotel building itself) and a kosher bakery. Needless to say, the included breakfast is kosher. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The room is small but more than adequate for two. All-in-all, a bargain. Highly recommended.

The customer service was truly outstanding and far better than anyone ever has a right to expect. The manager, Alessandra, was helpful way beyond belief. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years, and never have I received such good service. Service this good can not be bought for a million dollars (or Euros). Oh, and the free breakfast was perfect.

Great hotel in old jewish ghetto area!

Posted Oct 27, 2016
Pros: everything: staff, breakfast, location, room!
Cons: if they added facial tissues as in room amenity, and hair conditioner. But really those are small things.
Location: great location in old Jewish ghetto courtyard. Security- Italian guards are stationed outside hotel- in metal hut. felt safe.
We really liked this hotel. It is located in the old jewish ghetto, about 5 minute walk from Gam Gam restaurant and 30 seconds from Chabad shul. We found it by chance since it's not mentioned on Chabad website and would recommend it for anyone. The location was a bit hard to find at first- go through alley on right side of gamgam, cross tiny bridge, straight and slight left. It's about 25 minutes walk from S. Lucia train station with heavy luggage. There is a shabbos elevator and regular one, they provide you with regular metal keys and there are no automatic opened doors- which we liked, and a kosher cholov yisroel breakfast is served every day with items like Reismans rugelach, Achva pastries, fruit, other cake and cookies, hard boiled eggs, butter, jams and chocolate spread with good hechsher, waffles sometimes, rolls, bread, several types of cereal, coffee, tea, juice. Reception is only there from around 8 am until 6 pm, but we had no problems. There is a kosher restaurant on site called gimmel garden, but idk about the hechsher- since not familiar with Italian Rabbis. (I believe it was Rabbi Bachbout ? spelling) Room was clean, had everything we needed except tissues and hair conditioner. But none of the italian hotels we stayed out gave hair conditioner. They had urn with tea, coffee and candles outside breakfast room for shabbos/chag. spacious sitting area on the second floor outside room. Nice staff. In room safe (smallish). ask for plug in mosquito repelleler.

Pros: Location was fantastic, staff were friendly and very helpful, breakfast was very good, unfortunate that it's necessary but very comforting to have 24hr real security outside guarding the Ghetto and synagogues. There's a wonderful outdoor restaurant/garden that is unique in a city, good food too.
Cons: Bed was not the highest quality in comfort, floor could have been cleaner.
Location: Fantastic restaurants, bars, shops, galleries. Jewish Museum and tours of the synagogues is right there. Next to boats to go all over & airport.
