Good 4 star hotel with a GREAT location.

Posted Feb 17, 2017
Pros: Location Room as described Breakfast Wifi
Cons: Clarity about directions Clarity about which hotel you book and which one you actually stay in.
Location: It's a minute from St Mark's Square, The Basilica and Doge's Palace. Vaporetto stops are 5-10 mins walk. Lots of restaurants and designer shopping.
The hotel was a bit tricky to find at first but when you know where it is, it is so simple. It was a minute's walk from St Mark's Square. Part of the confusion is that this hotel seems to be a group of hotels with similar names in the same area so in desperation, I asked for directions at the Royal San Marco and they told me it's the same hotel! That said, the service at Reception was efficient and I was taken to my suite which was in a separate block across a short alley...but conveniently was next to the Breakfast room. My junior suite room was exactly as described. A huge sitting room, large bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower. I did get a balcony and a view of a canal rather than THE Grand Canal. And to be honest, I didn't spend that much time in the room to be disappointed by the view. There is a spacious mini bar fridge and room safe, which is easy to use. The heating wasn't adjustable but warm enough for me. My rate included breakfast and it was a comprehensive self service buffet with every option you could want. The hotel had WiFi included...invaluable these days. I arrived before the 2pm check in time and the hotel held on to my cases in their comfortable waiting room and provided me with the WiFi code. If you are leaving your cases, make sure they are locked as there is no security on the room itself. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Venice and the hotel, particularly the location, made it all the more enjoyable. Would recommend with directions.

Deceptive Room Assignment Practices

Posted Jan 9, 2017
Pros: Location is pretty central; close to San Marco Square. It's a 10 minute walk from the Water Taxi Terminal.
Cons: This hotel is dated. The heat does not work.
We booked and paid for a "family suite" for our family of 3 people through Expedia almost two months in advanced. The booking was confirmed by Expedia. The "family suite" is supposed to have 2 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 5 people. We showed up to the hotel and were put in a "Superior Suite" which is 2 categories below what we paid for (with only one bedroom and much cheaper). We confronted the hotel staff and were told that no other rooms are available. They told us that it should not be a problem anyway because we only have 3 people in our party so we should not need the "family suite." I have to explain the obvious that yes, it does matter or else there would not be several hundred dollars price difference between the different categories of rooms. Hotel would not offer a partial refund to cover the differences in room booked vs room assigned because it was reserved through Expedia so we need to talk to Expedia. The hotel is very dated and the heat does not work. Do not stay at this hotel.

Close for walking to all the major sites we wanted

Venice is good for max 2 days. Any longer was too much. City way too crowded and ruined by cruise ships.

In a good area for site seeing.

It was spoilt because the first room we were put in was awful, we took notice of the hotels website which didn't portray that room at all...for our honeymoon we did expect much much better. The staff weren't that friendly but they did move us on our second day, we were only there for 2 days......
