Amazing stay
Maria was amazing. Bery accomodating with our needs amd very understanding. She gave us excellent food recommendations and tips for traveling the city. The room was clean. And the AC worked amazingly in the Aigust heat and humidity. The location is prefecture located in a quiet neighborhood, but within walking distance to all the sights and excellent food.

The property is very accessible- even for a girl with a broken ankle! The staff (Maria) is delightful and so very helpful. Every tip and trick she shared was perfect and I could tell it was a pleasure for her to assist in any way she could. My room had everything I needed and the bathroom was perfectly clean. We really enjoyed our stay. We didn't have super high expectations since it was a 2* but it exceeded them anyway. It was safe, clean, easy to find and quite comfortable. Would recommend to anyone!

This is a lovely place to stay. Close to Campo Santa Margherita, it's a small guesthouse with comfortable rooms. Breakfast is provided in a small self-service kitchen. The owner is immediately contactable, and very attentive. Ideal base for exploring the delights of Venice.

Venice visit
Loved our place, excellent location, host went above and beyond in providing assistance. Because of the heat in Venice we were pleased to have a place to relax during the day. We also enjoyed the two nearby “campos” and getting lost in the Venice “calles.” We would definitely go back to the Santa Margherita Guesthouse!!

Live like a local
A little gem in N.W. Dorsoduro. Away from the crowds. Laid back vibe. "Mi casa es su casa" Maria was helpful and quick to reply to questions. Nice breakfast and has a community kitchen if you want to prepare meals. The room was adequate and clean. Short walk to Campo San Barnaba for food and drink. Easy walk to vaporetto stops Rezzonico,Basilio and Zattere. If you like the B&B type of place, this is for you. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Ideal location and super helpful host
Located in Ca Rezzonico (which is so perfect for the vaperatto to San Marco and Rialto) the guest house is clean and well situated. Maria was amazingly helpful giving the best advice on how to arrive at the guesthouse directions from Marco Polo, timings and cost as I was travelling alone this really put me at ease! I was in the single room above the street make sure to close the shutters and windows so you dont hear the bell tower or street noise, the room was cleaned daily nice private bathroom (a lot of places have shared so this was a bonus) there’s breakfast available which consists of cereal and a few jams etc. Always coffee and juice available but towards the vaperetto stop there’s a few little cafes and bakery so I had my breakfast there! There’s an amazing garden restaurant just at the end of the road (which I can’t remember the name of) but you follow a little side path to find it. Maria was always a message away she even helped me with directions for for my return journey as I was travelling back through Treviso the bus stop at pl.Roma is just a 10 minute walk to the airport. Overall I adored my stay and would recommend and stay again!

My 2nd stay at this excellent Guesthouse situated in a lovely residential area of Venice. Maria and her staff are friendly and helpful, my room was comfortable and clean with plenty of hot water and a great shower in the bathroom. Thank you Maria for another wonderful visit!

Perfect location away from the madness
Nice quiet location but close to the ferry with direct lines to the airport and st. Mark's square. The walk to St Marks isn't too far and well worth the effort. Lots of local bars and restaurants close to the hotel

Great Location - breakfast suffers.
Breakfast is unattended and only from 8:30 to 9:30. We had to leave earlier to catch our flight. Since breakfast is only pre-packaged goods (nothing fresh) it would be better if it started at 7:30. Also, coffee is not very good. In-room tea kettle was helpful. Check-in is done remotely via email - no on-site person. Map provided by email was very helpful. It is very close to the ferry from Croatia and Alilaguna ferry to airport.

Venice is such a maze that, despite excellent directions, we got lost on our way. However, were very happy when we found this gem of a place! It would be nice if breakfast were available a half hour earlier (starts at 8.30) but that is my only quibble. Very clean and comfortable, good WiFi, lovely host.

Venice Gem
We had a lovely little room with lots of windows and a private bath. Very nice breakfasts with a good variety were served each morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds seemed awfully narrow, but turns out that's common in Italy. You just need to make sure that, if you roll over, you do it on one spot or you're over the edge.

A lovely spot for a brief stay!
This was a very nice place to stay. First and foremost the staff....all of them....were wonderful and very accommodating. The location is exactly what I wanted. The breakfast each day was lovely and on nice days I sat on the small and beautiful terrace. Was welcomed with Prosecco, biscotti and chocolates in my room. Nice touch! When I locked myself out one day they were so kind and helped me right away. My only complaint was the noise between the rooms.

We enjoyed our stay at Santa Margherita Guesthouse. I particularly would like to thank Maria for her special consideration of my dietary requirements. Maria leaves juice and milk in the kitchen for all to use, but in addition to this she went out of her way to leave lactose free milk, cheese and yoghurt for me. The accommodation is very good and you can easily get to all parts of Venice either by walking or water bus.

Maria is amazing! She's kind, thoughtful, and takes a lot of interest in her guests. After I mentioned I try to eat gluten-free as much as possible, she appeared with a basket of gluten-free food for me to have for breakfast and snacks, and there was gluten-free cereal on the breakfast buffet. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The location was perfect, only about 10 minutes from the train station and easy to walk everywhere. I definitely recommend it!

maria who works in the hotel is very nice and helpful. i would suggest u to leave the luggage in the station for 1) it's not fun to drag cases through 7 bridges to the hotel; 2) they don't provide luggage storage.

Had a lovely time with my daughter. There are only six rooms so very personal and Maria and staff were very friendly -it feels like staying with family or friends. The room was clean and modern. The continental breakfast is beautiful and free (we've been charged for less worthy spreads in other hotels)! At Santa Margherita everything you need is within a city-block. There's a fruit stand around the corner, espresso, bakeries, pizzerias, and finer restaurants, as well as cute little artsy shops. The glass jewelry shop next to the GROM gelato bar has unique inventory made by the shop owner. His friend does the glass blowing and he makes the jewelry! During our three night stay we walked and took the bus boat to as many different neighborhoods in Venice as possible, and I found myself coming back to the neighborhood around the hotel (Dorsuduro). Loved it!

As this is a guesthouse everything is selfservice. You have to make you own coffe in the morning, there is a basic selection for breakfast. It is in a quiet location in venice, only 15 minutes walk from the train station. The room and bathroom is clean, and in a fairly new state.

Sound proofing is a challenge. Thankfully all clients were quiet. The guesthouse was in a fairly quiet area of Venice thankfully , yet there were lots of restaurants and bars if you neefedvmore night life. The hostess was dynamic and helpful . Breakfast was later than we would have liked but when we had to depart earlier than breakfast was served they provided some snacks to nourish us to the train station. Our main complaint.....thin hard pillows...only one each....and the bed was also hard and uneveen, bending in the middle. Clean, economucal, kind.

Great Guesthouse in Venice
Two night stay after the cruise. This guest house is clean and comfortable, the rooms are a good size and the bathrooms very large. Wifi works very well, breakfast is okay, yogurt, bread cakes and rolls coffee. The location is fantastic, you can walk within 10 mins to Piazzale Roma the entry into Venice via train, airport, cruiseship or water bus. The price is excellent for Venice and the welcome was very friendly, they will work with you to get an early check in if possible, I was given my room at 11am. The airconditioning was awesome on a 30 celcius plus day. As a single woman I felt very safe at the property and the neighbourhood. The only issue was noise, you can hear "everything" from the avenue the hotel is on to the other guests so bring your earplugs. Its not that big of deal as you ready to collapse after exploring all Venice has to offer. I would definitely stay here again.

Set in a quiet area but close to the main sights. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Overall it was decent but the breakfast was not great and everything was pre-packaged (although this was stated on arrival that due to Italian law this would be the case). The room did not have a proper curtain or blind (was only a net curtain) so was quite light, especially first thing in the morning.

Comfortable guesthouse in a quiet, convenient area
I really enjoyed my stay at the Santa Margherita Guesthouse. It's a clean, quiet, and well maintained guesthouse with a wonderful host. The guesthouse is located in the Dorsoduro area of Venice, about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station depending on how much luggage you have. Alternatively, you can take a vaporetto and get off at a stop relatively close to the guesthouse. During my stay, I found the area to be very quiet and convenient. The guesthouse is right by a street with lots of nice shops and restaurants, and not far away from the Campo Santa Margherita, a large square with plenty of dining options. You can easily walk to the Accademia or the Piazza San Marco. Regarding the guesthouse itself, I found everything to be clean, comfortable, and well appointed. It was nice that the room included a mini fridge, snacks, coffee/tea, and an electric kettle. I also found the room to be very quiet. All guests have access to a communal kitchen and dining area which includes an espresso machine with free espresso. About breakfast, the law dictates that guesthouses can only serve prepackaged food. That said, I still found breakfast to be pretty good. There was an assortment of toast, pastries, yogurts, oatmeal, and more. Breakfast time is from 8:30-9:30. The last thing I’d like to say about the guesthouse is that the host, Maria, is one of the nicest people I met in Italy. She was incredibly warm and welcoming. The next time I’m in Venice, I’ll definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel if you don't want to pay for extra services you don't need. The hostess, the soul of graciousness, went out of her way to be helpful and even suggested a couple of great places to go in Venicia that you would not know about otherwise - and spoke perfect english, making it easier. Beautiful, well appointed modern rooms behind a typically mysterious venitian door along a narrow alley. Not large if you bring a family, but I understand two adjacent rooms can be combined. Very close to all the food you could possibly need including vegetable and fish markets, 15 minutes from the Santa Lucia railway station - if you have a (3.5 euro) detailed map and experience navigating Venicia. Which means three hours of getting lost if you bring only Google maps and satellite photos (!), par for the course in Venice. A little courtyard with tables for a cup before venturing out in the morning. Free wi-fi. Not a noisy location either.

Perfect location,easy walking distance to tourist spots but in a quieter area. Service is excellent, very friendly welcoming and helpful. Room was very nice and clean with good shower etc. Only down points are breakfast was poor and double bed was two joined singles and not so comfy. Would very much recommend though overall

Very good location. Everything seemed very new - we had a well-equipped room with a nice bathroom and very useful shared kitchen, where breakfast was provided. There was a pretty garden which you could also sit out and eat in (2 tables). We bought our own margarine and didn't realise that it should have been left in the fridge in our room - not the one in the kitchen, as this contravened Italian hotel regulations. When we told the staff it had disappeared they went out and bought us a new tub! The bell from the local church was annoying (ringing on the hour all night) but that can be a problem in many locations in Venice. The only other disadvantage for some people might be that you have to arrange when to arrive and when to check out with the owners (they say check out is between 9.0 and 10.30 am so if that doesn't suit you then it needs to be negotiated). Overall we were very pleased with the quality of the hotel and the location.

The B&B appartment was located in the perfect quiet area in Venice away from the crowd, but within walking distance to the city centre. The room was kept clean and the breakfast was nice. I was very pleased with the overal experience, would definitely stay there again. If I was to visit Venice again.

The Santa Margherita Guesthouse is just perfect for a short break in Venice. I stayed there in September 2011. I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms very clean and spacious. Breakfast was nice, a help yourself continental. When you arrive at the Airport take the bus to Piazzale Roma the catch the water bus number 1 to Ca Rezzonico and you can get to the B&B without having to carry your case over any bridges. For those who have not been to Venice before you can get a 24 hour water bus and airport bus 5 ticket for about 21 Euros. The bus journey from the airport cost me 5 Euros. If you get chance visit the beach on Lido and go to Burano island so lovely.

Amazing Guesthouse
This is an amazing guesthouse and incredible value for money. It's close to the station and within easy walking distance of many of the major sites. However, it's a very secluded and relaxing place. Since its in the student part of town, there are lots of budget options for food and a lot of the places are visited by locals as well as tourists. Despite being near a couple of major squares (Santa Margherita and Sant Barnaba) it is very quiet and noise was never a problem. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. As well as your room, you have access to a small kitchen and a delightful garden (where I had breakfast every morning as well as often coming back for afternoon coffee). A couple of things to note (which I don't consider negatives but are worth considering). First of all, this is a guesthouse, not a hotel, so there are no staff on site other than in the morning. Also, breakfast hours are very limited (8.30 - 9.30) and they ask you to vacate the rooms for cleaning between 10.00 and 12.00. However, if you can live with those restrictions, then it's a great place to stay.

Great inexpensive hotel
Just a 10-15 min walk or so away from San Marco Plaza and the Academia Bridge. Pretty inexpensive for Venice. I felt secluded from the busy places, but I could walk there in just a couple minutes. Very close by to a couple other small plazas with a lot of restaurants and shops, as well as several concert halls and opera houses. I'd definately stay there again.
