Do not ever book with this hotel

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything starting from the people who work at the front office
Location: I do not know - I was not able to stay in this hotel
I would like to warn all people who wish to book a room with this hotel. I made a reservation for 2 rooms in this hotel and prepaid for it nearly 2 months in advance. After arriving to the hotel at 11 PM (we were party of 7 with 3 kids) we were told that there is only one room for us in this hotel and they do not have the second one. They could find us a room in another hotel but we would need to split. Since we were travelling in one car we disagreed with this option. The front office clerk did not allow us to contact the manager (he did not even want to tell us her/his name) and provided us with 3 options: 1. We agree to take the second room in another hotel, or 2. We say we do not like it, take the money back and stay without the rooms for the night, or 3. They call the police to take us out to the police station as we are to loud and touching the hotel property (hard not to do it if you plan to stay there for the night). I needed to call La Quinta hotels customer service and stay for 2 hours on the line until they agreed to give us 2 rooms in another hotel and until the found something in the close area (we actually needed to find a hotel with available rooms and tell them where to call). After that no excuse me or anything was heard by us from the hotel representatives. My brother who was lucky to get a room in this hotel tried to talk to the manager in the morning but he was hiding. At least we know now that we will never ever stay in any of the La Quinta chain.

I am extremely sorry to hear that you were unable to stay at the hotel. This is not something typical, however, due to unforeseen reasons i.e. emergency maintenance issue, etc. we may run in to an issue like this, especially when the hotel is completely booked and even if one room has an unexpected room issue we may not be able to sell it. When this happens we would walk the guest to a higher star class hotel or comparable hotel and the night will be free to our guest. We do understand that it is still an inconvenience to the guest and frustrating. However, please allow the staff the find you accommodation and not to cause disturbance by being loud or physical. As mentioned earlier, we are here to make your stay comfortable and if we fail we will make it right. Once again, I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Not at very nice experience

The plumbing was faulty, the room smelled like cigarette smoke. There was no toaster in the breakfast room, and the coffee creamer was stale.

Non Smoking Room with Foul Cigarette Stench

Pros: The room we stayed in was updated and spacious. The decor in the room was really nice, with fairly new looking carpet - looked just like the picture.
Cons: The hotel should definitely have a stricter smoking policy, which would include imposing fines for violators.
Location: Easy access to the 101 Fwy. My wife and I enjoyed Topper's Pizza, located just minutes away. Great local family owned pizza establishment.
My wife and I checked in to the La Quinta hotel, Ventura, CA, on the evening of 15 July 17 for a one night stay. We were booked for a room through Expedia, requesting a King size bed, "non-smoking" (as reflected on my reservation confirmation). Upon entering the room we immediately noticed a strong "nauseous" smell of cigarette smoke. Within minutes, we opened the window, hoping to air-out the strong foul odor, but to no avail. The smell was so bad and unpleasant, that both my wife and I felt like vomiting. We could even taste the essence of cigarette residue on our mouths! Soon, I called the front desk about the foul cigarette smell in our room, and asked if we could be switched to another room. I was told by the receptionist (ILiana) that all the rooms were sold-out for the night, and there was nothing else she could do. I even confirmed with her that if the room we were assigned to was non-smoking. She acknowled that it was, however, she said that the previous guest may have smoked in the room. Nevertheless, we had no choice but to tolerate the stench of the room for the night, and pretty much lost what was supposed to be a good nights sleep. Not a happy camper.

Nice Location

Convenient to everything, quiet, nice breakfast. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave but they sell popcorn and frozen dinners in the office so some rooms must have those. This was a 2 double bed room but those would've fit in it. The bathroom did not have a working fan so that was a small problem. I would stay here again because the bed was comfortable, it was quiet and close to everything.

Great hotel for a great price

This was a great hotel close to beaches and Santa Barbara without having to pay the Santa Barbara prices. I would recommend this to everyone looking to save money on a hotel and spend it on you're actual vacation.

One night stay was OK

Pros: The King size bed.
Cons: The grounds were dirty and room smelled like smoke
Location: Lots to do near by its right off the 101 highway and close to the beach
The location was close to the beach and harbor which was a plus. The room that we stayed in was a no smoking room, but when we first walked in we could tell that people had been smoking in the room. We over looked that and used air fresher to help block it out. The king size bed was the best thing about the room it was very comfortable. I think it was overpriced for what we got and the free breakfast was ok but the location was in the lobby and not a very big area to eat in. Other La Quinta that we stayed at were much better that this one.

Not a good experience

Our stay was an experience: 2 adults 2 kids & a 4 month old. 1. We were able to check in early & the staff that was there were great & friendly. The Continental Breakfast was great & the decor where you eat was beautiful which made me happy to eat there, usually i get my food & eat in my room. 2. we get our room looks nice, but with in 5 mins get a maintenance man saying they need to fix the toliet. we unpack & leave come back about 11pm toilet is over flowing i called the front desk 10 times no answere so i had to walk over to the lobby no one is there 2 familys waiting to check in and phone ringing waited about 10 mins there. The desk person comes back cant help me he is the only one working & has other people to help says when he is done he will help me might be about an hour so i asked do you have a plunger. He smiled said yes and got it for me. I plunged & no luck so i went back gave him the plunger & he said he needed to get a snake & he would come snake it. It didnt work said so he said he would leave a note for the morning and comp that night and we could switch rooms in the morning he was very nice & tried his best to help. I went in to put some towels down noticed the toilet was so dirty around the outside and then i inspected the inside and it was so dirty as was the tub. Come morning we eat then check for a room to see if one is ready & we switch. This wont let me write anymore so this new room was not good either & couldn't check out computer was frozen.

Nice hotel will stay there again

Pros: Parking was good and hotel was clean and spacious, Also felt safe walking around to my room ( I did not get in until midnight)
Cons: Room had smoke smell,but they did offer to switch rooms or spray room
I was very late to check in ( midnight thanks to bad la traffic and cal trans) they held room, At time of check in stated room had smoke smell in room offered to move me to a non handicap room ( needed it) so they offered to spray room if I needed it , I keep freebreze in car always just in case , did not need it. Bk was nice many choices and they kept refilling it so you had choices.

Room Smells of Urine

Room had awful odor and smelled of urine. A/C idnt work properly to cool room and toilet ran water off and on.
