Historic hotel on the main plaza

Posted Apr 23, 2017
Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: The facilities could be modernized, but I wouldn't like it as much if that were done.
Location: (See above.) This was the second time I've stayed at the Diligencias, and I will do so again when I return in July.
The historic hotel is across from the cathedral in the historic district. Events like dancing and other performances are held on most evenings in the main plaza in the front of the hotel. Small booths with handcrafts set up most every day. The City Museum and Naval Museum and Photographic Museum are in easy walking distance, along with other interesting sites. Excellent restaurants are to one side of the plaza, with musicians playing their marimbas and guitars. Vendors pass by the tables, but they are never overbearing, The seafood in this port city is AMAZING!

Great hotel right in the heart of Veracruz.

The main square is across the street surrounded by restaurarants and filled with merchants. Dance there in the evening and tour on a bus.

Nice Place

Great stay. Very nice place but our room was above the party room which was busy all weekend and loud music until 2am. Nice place though

Beautiful hotel and great location

Posted Dec 5, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Beautiful hotel, great location and good restaurant
Cons: Staff needs more customer service training
Location: Right in Downtown Veracruz with many things to do and see right in front of the hotel
Hotel is really nice and has a sense of old elegance, rooms are very spacious and come with a mini refrigerator, great to keep water and snacks cold if needed. One bad experience was that I booked two rooms, one for my mother that does not use elevator, when I got there I found out they were painting the stairs and there was no access to the other floors, staff seemed unable to answer my questions. At the end issue was solved by Orbitz.

in an excellent location in the city center

Posted Nov 29, 2016
Pros: Friendliness of staff and location of hotel.
Cons: A few details could be upgraded to truly represent what the hotel could/should be for its status & prominence in the city.
Location: Fantastic location and close to all tourist sites.
Check-in was efficient & staff very friendly. (I speak Spanish, so there was no language issue.) Room was large & clean; it is true that a few details could be upgraded, but overall was quite pleasant. My maid (Clara) was excellent. Breakfast buffet was also excellent-buy coupons from from desk-it is cheaper for hotel guests & includes the tip; wait staff always very friendly, helpful, & efficient. I ate several other meals there that were very delicious & well prepared. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Veracruz.

The heart of the city.

Posted Jul 17, 2016
Pros: It was at the heart of the city.
Cons: No.
Location: El Malecon is at walking distance, the "Mercado de Artesanias", City Museum, everything is at walking distance except the Fort of San Juan de Ulua.
Veracruz, is nostalgic and full of cultural contradictions. Very hot, so come prepared with appropriate attire. Food is very good, fresh, and affordable. I recommend touring the archeological sites along with the older monuments and the cultural diffusion of night life too.
