Met expectations for the rate.

Pros: The staff and the central location.
Cons: The bathroom in our unit needs some restoration work.
Location: On the Malecon. Far enough from the Zocalo so that the noise from the nightly festivities do not bother you, but close enough to safely walk there.
Stayed for two weeks. Paid $29.00 US per night, so we were not expecting high class accommodations. It's like a Motel 6 inside a restored 1940s hotel. If you are a fussy, stuffy, "Ugly American"-type, do not stay here; stay at the Emporio. The Ruiz Milan is close to what interested us: The Malecon, the Zocalo, and El Gran Café de la Parroquia. The parking garage is adjacent to the hotel, so access to our vehicle was convenient. The hotel does not allow you to take your car out more than once per day. I assume that this is because the spaces are limited and cramped, so the concierge has to sometimes move several cars to get to yours. For us, this was not an inconvenience because we used our rental car for long day trips. The AC unit in our room worked well, but it is not central air so it must remain at a preset level whenever it is on. It worked so well that we used a warm blanket at night to stay comfortable. There is a small indoor swimming pool and a Jacuzzi that functions with the water at room temperature. The staff is very pleasant.

Historic Veracruz

The Ruiz Milán Hotel in Veracruz is in an excellent location. It is across the street from one of the largest markets in Veracruz. One can walk to the right along water edge past the military base and many small shops and hotels. Walk to the left a few blocks and be in the center of the historic center of town. In both directions there are several excellent outdoor/indoor seating cafes with excellent food. The staff is excellent and very helpful. A good place to stay!!

Everything was acceptable but beds and air con was terrible! I cannot recommend the restaurant next to the hotel, I never eat there, the staff was very friendly and the cleaning was good. Beds and noisy air con was terrible! Location is great.

Mantenimiento del hotel deplorable, buena ubicacion y trato amable. Habitacion y baños sucios, lenceria vieja y cobijas mal olientes. Muebles y decoracion muy anticuado y poco cuidado. No vale el costo del hotel.
