Shame on Manager

I recently planned a trip to Veracruz for the first time this past week. Unfortunately, the political climate in México seemed to have triggered a series of civil unrest throughout the city at the same time I was due to arrive. There was rampant looting, shootings, schools and major businesses were closing and public transportation was called to a halt. I was forced to cancel my trip only to find that flights were also effected due to the severity of the situation, as reported on CNN Español. I was floored to hear that the manager of the Centro Historico Hotel refused to refund my stay despite the extenuating circumstances. This was absolutely unbelievable. Terribly disappointed that they put monetary value over the safety of their patrons. No excuse for this.

Nice hotel in the city center

Although the the hotel is in the city center, it is around the corner from all the noise and music of the musicians playing at the restaurants which allowed us to sleep. We arrived around 10:30pm and we were happy that there were still several restaurants open right next to the Hotel. Hotel service was excellent - we got the breakfast which included fruit, eggs and beverage. For a $1 more we could eat the buffet which had tons of amazing food!! The only hiccup was that we reserved two rooms with two queen since beds but we were given two rooms with 1 king size bed. We told the receptionist and they made the change. I recommend!

Central to Everything

Pros: We liked the staff and the restaurant was very good.
Cons: The advertise,net for the hotel needs to be reviewed for up to date consistencies.
Location: There is a square that seems to be central to all activities. Entertainment occurred there all day. The cathedral and tour buses are nearby.
The Veracruz Centro Historico is really a very nice hotel. My two complaints are: they do not have an airport shuttle - as advertised - and the room was a little cramped for three adults. Other than those two problems we had a great time in Veracruz because the hotel is really central to everything.

Great Location vs Bad Service

If it wasn't for the location of this hotel I would highly book elsewhere. My check-in experience was a nightmare. I booked a double bed for two people, when they looked at the online reservation they said there was a mistake and they moved me to a double bed in the first floor instead of the 6th floor where they had originally placed me. Extremely rude front desk staff. I had to call expedia to clear up their mistake, there was NO reason to change my room since essentially it was the same room! The TV was old and not working. I've stayed in this hotel before and I think seriously that they gave me the worst room. After I asked to be changed, they said they were full capacity. And it looked pretty empty to me. They said they would check in the next couple of days, NEVER did! They were upset that they has received a call from customer service and were again rude during check out. Don't think I'll be visiting soon!

A trip into history

Pros: Good quality at good prices with an excellent location
Cons: Ice machine on every floor
Location: In the center of everything, just go out and walk into the action...
Nice hotel near the Zocalo, portales, and history itself

Nothing to do at hotel, not even an exercise room

Hotel doesn't offer anything, the pool is freezing and the hotel doesn't even have an exercise room. I wouldn't go back unless it is a business trip. For vacations not at all

Pros: Very clean. Very comfortable bed
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: Excellent location
Very well located and directly in front of the historical portales and 400 year old cathedral. very clean , tidy and very comfortable bed. Balcony overlooked the portales. well insulated balcony glass slide door on 6th floor cuts out the loud Mariachi live music. My 3rd time to stay here. Prefer the neighboring Hotel Diligencia but this was the best priced for under $100/ whereas others were over for something going on this time.

Complete Dissappointment

Pros: Proximity to the downtown
Cons: Needs renovation throughtout, especially to satisfy business clients. It may be that are looking to target families and not business people.
When I checked the hotel thru Expedia website indicated, excellent. So I did the reservation based on the rating, however the first room provided, the air conditioning did not work and the internet access was very poor. I asked them to transfer to another room. The air conditioning was a little better, however did not work at full capacity. The internet was very very poor. I explained the situation to two front desk people and they told me to contact the reception manager. I did. She never did anything for me to improve my stay. The hotel did not have a room service 24 hours, only breakfast. They have an adjancent restaurant which was okay. The bathroom was very dark and very small in comparison to the suite space that I have reserved. This hotel needs a lot of tender love.
