We ended up walking on the island and not bringing our car. This hotel is in the perfect spot! I called and they were able to let us in earlier to store our bags. We walked to and up the volcano and then had beers, ate dinner and had ice cream all right next to the hotel. Lovely spot! Very clean room with just enough beds and a nice size bathroom. Perfect bakery nearby in the morning before taking the ferry back.

A diamond in the rough. Although the exterior needs some work the inside was cozy, clean and efficient. Great location. Loved our stay at the Lava Guesthouse!

Wonderful guest house centrally located in Vestmannaeyjar. Great dining very close by. The full kitchen (shared) is a plus, as is the ample neighborhood parking. The four of us were quite comfortable in a large single room.

Shared bathroom, not dark room
I did not have high expectation and this place delivered. I'm not a shared bathroom type of person and thankfully had a second floor room as the first floor bathroom did not meet my standards. The place was ok, location great. The blackout curtains were not sufficient for an Iceland summer and I had to hang blankets to get the room semi dark.
