Decent hotel - Poor Customer service experiencePosted Sep 24, 2015
Don't want 1 or 2 bad apples to spoil the bunch, but didn't feel as if the staff understood the meaning of customer service and creating an experience for their guests as other places in Africa. By this I mean... I could definitely feel the hustle mentality with everyone as if they were more worried about making a couple of extra bucks with every request. For example: We had a packaged box of wine where the tape needed 'some reinforcement' and the guy charged us $3 for the tape... Negotiated! The food at the buffet was over priced and they didn't replace food that was low or gone. You should always stick to ordering from the menu (especially with breakfast) even though you are encouraged not to.

posizione bellissima , professionalita' staffPosted Sep 1, 2015
Pros: Posizione e personale
Grande professionalita' e cortesia dello staff.

Hotel is well situated for fishing and the cruises. Has beautiful view of zambesi. Croc farm just down road. Elephant hills golf course just up the road.town and the falls close by . Best place to stay if like the outdoors.

Not a lot of bang for your buckPosted May 26, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel is fine and the staff is friendly. I was suprised that the room was so basic based on the price that we paid. We booked a river view room and were on the lower level. I'm not sure the increase in price was worth it for the lower level, as we didn't see much of the river. We also booked a double room but were clearly given two singles that were kind of pushed together. The AC didn't work in our room and on the second evening we called to get it fixed, as it was quite warm. The repair man came, looked at it, said he would need to replace a sensor, and asked if we wanted him to do that. Yes, we want you to fix it. That's why we called. We also asked the reception a couple of things and they said they would get back to us and they never did. I would probably look to stay elsewhere in the future.

Friendly Staff Shame About The ServicePosted May 25, 2015 on Hotels
Cons 1.Despite booking an upper floor room with balcony, we were given a ground floor room on check-in but after some presuasion they changed it. 2. Room was very small with little room around the bed. 3. Not all the consumables were replenished each day unless we were there. 4. Despite there being a number choices of red wine for each type on the wine list, they in fact only had one of each type. 5. According to their website they have 2 restaurants but in reality they had only one (Amulonga), Sebastians's was closed. 6. According to their website they have a Business Centre, they did not.

Riverside retreatPosted May 13, 2015
About 5km out of town - perfect retreat. Beautiful gardens, peaceful, watch the river and boats flow by, and escape from street vendors. Warthog "lawn mowers" are very amusing. Some may want more frequent shuttles but we used them plenty - you just need to manage your time. Rooms are well-equipped though a bit small. Hooray, everything worked as opposed to our hotel in Harare. Staff friendly and helpful. Cheap laundry was a delight! Downsides ... cost of breakfast, we mostly had brunch at Shearwater Cafe (next to the shuttle stop Batoka). We hope to be back one day!
