Location is ideal, but that's all it has going for

Posted Sep 25, 2016
Pros: The staff were excellent.
Cons: The whole building
Location: Location is great for downtown and Chinatown and the Wharf
We booked 3 nights, went to our non-smoking room and was hit back by the smell of smoke and recent smoke too. The room was cramped, very dated and not very pleasant at all. Very grubby! Didn't want to complain but after about half an hour I went to the guy on the desk and asked if all the rooms were like this one. He said I have one room left and showed it to me - it was 100 percent better than the first one and an upgrade - he let us have it and was very apologetic. He even came to our room and could smell the bad stench of smoke. Neither my husband or I are anti-smokers but this was real bad. If it hadn't been for the room change our stay would have been awful. The upgrade was larger and the bed was comfortable...but even that room seemed a little dated. The hotel needs a complete makeover. But their location is great and they are always full, so I guess whatever works for them. I wont be staying there again.

Location was a good walk away.

Posted Sep 12, 2016
We enjoyed the location and the price . It was a good walk to the places we wanted to see like Victoria Harbour and Legislative buildings. Some folks might find it a bit far but we like to walk and parking close to these places is expensive. So it suited us fine.

Victoria visit with family

Posted Sep 11, 2016
The location of the hotel and its parking availability is great. The staff are also helpful, although some are not the most welcoming staff. The furniture are old and the blankets were not tidy. The coffee maker was let to dry with coffee in it.

Don't stay here

Posted Sep 8, 2016
Our first room had a broken shower curtain hanger, which is not a big deal but it also had a mouse in it. When we asked to change rooms, we were told they never should have given us that room. Our second room was right on Douglas and was extremely noisy from traffic...in the morning my husband went to make coffee and coffee pot was still dirty from previous rental. I will never stay there again and will never recommend it to anyone.

I would not stay here again

The staff was more than helpful and friendly. However, while we were leaving the room I saw a rat scurry across the floor.

Not what is worth 100$

Posted Aug 25, 2016
Rooms are clean but could see cracks onto the street thought a/c unit on the wall. Huge tv , king bed . Bathroom was small - doors getting stuck at the toilet. Spots. Water in bath barely empties out. A bit less than motel 6 quality, but the price is high .

Great location, needs a remodel, great staff.

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Pros: Location, staff. Good value for the money.
Cons: Suites in need of cosmetic repair, it's just old and could use a remodel... but then the price would be a lot higher...
Location: Great location.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The hotel is old and is in need of a remodel, but was clean.

Relative Comfort and Convenience

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Pros: The bed was comfy and the location was convenient to explore Victoria.
Cons: The hotel and almost everything in it are in need of updating. They are just old, worn out and in some cases broken.
Location: It was easy to access just about anywhere in Victoria and the surrounding area.
The Island Travel Inn was a last minute choice when there were few rooms available. It was conveniently located and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel, room and amenities need a serious update. However, staff were friendly and accommodating.
