Wonderful tranquillity in a fabulous location

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Everything-the location, the privacy and the rooms filled with character.
Cons: Nothing, I think.
Location: The location is close to the centre of Sooke . Whiffin Spit is just below and there re lots of sea-based activities such as whale-watching and fishing
We made a last-minute booking through Expedia and found an unexpected paradise. the rooms are so characterful, each one different. we were in the Emily Carr room, with her works filing the walls and the bookshelves. Our balcony faced a beautiful bay and we spent long stretches just gazing at the constantly-changeing outlook. No photograph can do justice to the room, as it won't convey the scents of the herbs outside in the window box, nor the sounds of the sea. All rooms have an open fire, with wood supplied daily and it was so relaxing to watch the dancing flames late into the evening. Service from all staff was excellent and unintrusive. Relaxation is the priority here, so you won't find TVs in the rooms, though there are CD players with CDs freely available from reception. Complimentary breakfast is delivered to your room. The food in the restaurant is fabulous, if rather pricey. We enjoyed our tour around the organic garden and learned so much-the tour is offered daily. This was an anniversary stay and was pure delight-we loved it.

Relaxing, wonderful experience

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: This hotel is unique. We loved the in room fireplace a lot. The view from our balcony was wonderful. Upon arrival we were treated to port and cookies!
Cons: The hotel is pet friendly which is what we were looking for. We were told that the dog would get a bed and treats but we received neither.
Location: Ocean front location. Lots of trails for hiking nearby as well as lots of places for water sports such as kayaking and boating.
Staying in this hotel was a truly unique and relaxing experience. We loved our room from the claw foot bathtub to the four poster bed to the fireplace. The view was fantastic. We loved walking around the property. There are so many neat places to just sit and relax. We spent some time sitting down by the ocean on wonderfully comfortable chairs. We were greeted by a deer in the front parking lot! The room we stayed in was comfortable and very clean.

Romantic stay

Posted Aug 7, 2015
My wife and I went for a 2 night get away from the kids. We heard the place was great and the dining experience the same. We were very disappointed to learn the restaurant is close Tues & Wed! The 2 nights we were there!! We asked to cancel our second night so we could go to Victoria....but once we got to our room, and based on the first class service of the check, despite upset clients, we decided to stay both nights...that's how much we liked it. We ate at Wild Mountain which was close by and Great!

Relaxing long weekend

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Very nice room with great bed.
Cons: Although it wouldn't have been in keeping with the artists room, a flatscreen TV, maybe hidden a cupboard, would have given options.
Location: Beach walk, nice restaurants in town too.
Lovely location, superb food, very comfortable room.

Relaxed and a real threat.

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: Warm welcome with a glass of port. A room with ocean view and every morning a nice breakfast in the room. Good idea to have no tv!
Location: Explorer the beaches
It is nice that it is only a 30/40 minutes drive from Victoria airport. Sooke is a little town with nice stores were you find art from local artists. We drove to Port Renfrew and explored the beaches and discoverd great little restaurants. It was great to watch the sunset and wake up with ocean sound!
