Expensive but lovely

Out of town (golf resort) - 10 minutes in an on-demand shuttle to the sister Tivoli Marina hotel, restaurants and beaches. Friendly staff; can't do enough to make your stay perfect. Large comfortable rooms. Lovely clean pools, including an adult only one. Generally quieter than beachside hotels but great for a relaxing break. Variety of food options - buffets are good; seafood restaurant very nice and a higher end fine dining experience with excellent wine selection.

A hotel all to ourselves!

My husband and I spent a week in the Anantara at the beginning of May, Anantara took over the hotel from the 1st April this year and we could not have wished for a more relaxing week. The hotel is in a great location close to the Marina but also easily accessible to other areas e.g. Vale Du Lobo via an Uber :-) The hotel is super clean, the hotel staff cannot do enough for you, and there are lovely touches from the relaxing check in, fruit in the room, flowers on check out, fruit smoothies round the pool, all complementary. The hotel was extremely quiet, as it was early in the season, quite a strange experience having the whole pool to yourself! In terms of Golf the Victoria course was great (and the view from the pool too), the old course was even better. There is also a free shuttle service from the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!

Newly refurbished

We stayed in the Anantara in an extremely quiet week at the start of May. Starting with the positives, it is newly refurbished throughout, with a great spa, large gym, very helpful and friendly staff, peaceful, has beautiful views and with a great buffet breakfast. It is right next to the Victoria golf course but otherwise not much else. The hotel is a 15 min journey from the marina/town by shuttle bus but it is worth going there (or, at lunch, the golf course opposite) to eat. The couple of negatives for us were the value for money of lunch, dinner and drinks, with prices materially higher than hotels/restaurants of a similar standard nearby. And charges for WiFi of €10-15 a day - annoying! Some of the facilities such as the kids club, adult pool and tennis court weren't yet open but looked like they should be pretty nice once finished.

This was an excellent 5 star hotel, with great service throughout my stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As I travelled over the xmas break, many things were closed, e.g. the outdoor pools, pool bars and golf course closed from boxing day to the new year. The food was amazing, from the simplicity of the Emo restaurant to the variety at breakfast - really enjoyed the freshly made Spanish omelette each morning. The wifi service was a little disappointing as it seemed to reset each day from lobby to room. Also it is only free if you sign up to the free Discovery program. The indoor pool and spa treatment were fantastic - well worth the extra money for the rejuvenation massage in the Banyan Tree Spa. There is a daily shuttle to the sister hotel at the marina, to explore the shops, beach and casino. All in all a great relaxing break, would definitely like to go back in the summer when the weather is a lot warmer.

Beautiful place. No negatives whatsoever. We went over Christmas so it was quiet and quaint which is what we wanted. Definately going back.

Pros: Staff and facilities in the hotel were excellent. The food in the restaurants was very good and the wine choices excellent
Cons: Bit far from Vilamoura but regular shuttle bus available

Relaxing stay

Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly and helpful staff. A little out the way but makes for a quieter, more relaxing location and the shuttle bus to the marina means other amenities are easy to get to. Great breakfast. My only negative would be the tennis rackets and balls supplied by hotel were not in good condition but really a minor thing. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
