Fabulous Rural Retreat

Posted Sep 16, 2017
Pros: Total tranqulity and able to explore surrounding areas eg Granada, Antequera and other smaller mountain villages.
Cons: perhaps coffee/tea making facilities in room although this is not a great problem.
Location: Fantastic place to explore the Andalucian countryside and mountain villages
My wife & I have just returned from a 4 day break at the hotel, If you are looking to get away for a complete chill out in Andalucia look no furthur, this place is the place to be. The management & hotel staff go the extra mile nothing is too much trouble. The swimmimg pool and area was lovely and peaceful. We had breakfast and evening meal at the hotel each day and it was suberb. Cannot fault this hotel and will be retuning very shortly and we have already recommended this to friends who want the peace and quiet that this hotel has to offer.

Absolutely ideal for exploring Andalusia

Posted Sep 16, 2017
We chose the hotel for its central location, which is perfect if you're renting a car and driving to different cities. It's within a very easy (wide-open freeways) two-hour drive of Granada, Córdoba, Málaga, and Seville. (Also don't overlook the lovely ancient city of Antiquera, which is nearby.) Yet it is out in quiet and very beautiful countryside. What we didn't expect was that the hotel itself would be one of the highlights. It's not ornate, but it's beautiful and extremely well run. The decor is simple, but very nice. The food is simple but very well made. The pool is large, clean, private, and pleasant. And the staff stay out of your way but are friendly and extremely helpful whenever you need anything. One thing needs to be changed on the website: They can't help you with tickets to the Alhambra any more. (Unfortunately, these days you need to book well in advance for the Alhambra, the Great Mosque and Alcazar of Cordoba, and the Alcazar and Cathedral of Seville, or else pay a fortune for a guided tour group.) But we can't recommend La Paloma enough!

Peace and Rural Tranquility

Posted Sep 6, 2017
Pros: Rural tranquility A no-fuss approach
My stay was perfect; quiet and isolated rural tranquility. It proved to be perfect for the relaxing, reading and writing I needed to do. Breakfast was substantial and well-priced at 5 Euros. The restaurant meals were also excellent. Staff, throughout my staff, were always very pleasant and attentive. Overall, perfect for my simple needs, I wish them well

Cozy place with dirty swimming pool

Posted Aug 15, 2017
Pros: Very clean. Air conditioning. Old-style restoration was beautifully done. Breakfast in a nice terrace. Details well taken care of.
Cons: The swimming pool was dirty every single day of our stay (light brown color, mold in the walls). The restaurant is a little pricey for the area.
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in July 2017. The place is very cozy, they have done a very good job at renovating it and giving it a welcoming atmosphere. We were also given good suggestions about a restaurant nearby (on the day their restaurant was closed) and places to visit. It is a little hotel next to a local road, clean and well taken care of, with a nice breakfast and restaurant service. We thought it was going to be the perfect place to forget about the world for those 4 days. We chose it because of the swimming pool, which is a nice medium size (not small) surrounded by grass and trees. But the water was so dirty that we could not enjoy it, and the room was so small that we could not stay in it, so we had to change our plans and go sight-see the area by car. Although this was great because the towns around are interesting, our plans of getting lost and resting were ruined.

Dear Raul, Thank you for your comments. We are happy and we thank you for your nice comments regarding our hotel. We have worked hard at renovating lots of things and we love when our clients feel welcomed. I can assure that cleanliness is one of our most important issues here for us and I am happy you could appreciate it as you mentions the hotel was very clean. Regarding the swimming pool we always keep it as clean as the rest of the hotel as we know very well it is a very important area for our customers and one of the reason they choose us. Last July we had a problem with the pool filter and the eucalyptus pollen which has been very strong this season. As you now in our garden there are some eucalyptus which give us good shadows but when they were in blossom this July the caused a problem which it took us nearly 10 days to resolve. I am deeply sorry it happened during your stay and I can assure you we made all our efforts to solved it as soon as possible. I sincerely hope you come back to visit us in the future so you can enjoy our pool (clean and deep blue).

Recharging Batteries

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Myself & my husband stayed here for eight days from 3rd August. We had a wonderful time. Andreas & Jackomo were excellent hosts. Although we didn't eat at the hotel every day the meals that we had were delicious. We spent a lot of time down at the swimming pool which is nestled away to the rear of the hotel, it was very peaceful. It is advisable to hire a car as the hotel is 50km inland from Malaga Airport. We hope to return soon.

a rural gem

Breaking up a journey from Valencia in Spain to Portugal this hotel was a much needed stop off about half way along on the journey. Easy to find just 5 minutes from the autovia the hotel is a small rustic family run hotel. On the day of my stay I was the only guest and had the large pool, gardens and hotel to myself. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and accommodated my request for A/C and a quiet room. The room was small, en-suite but perfectly adequate. The views from the room were beautiful. The evening meal was lovely with salmon Carpaccio, rib-eye steak and tiramisu and a small bottle of local wine. The restaurant was popular with locals. The breakfast the next morning was comprehensive and the made up a small packet of biscuits for my onward journey. Please dont expect 5 star luxury as this hotel is all about the welcome and friendly nature and the ambiance of the hotel and surroundings.

A place to remember and visit again .

Pros: The ambience , the staff and the excellent food.
Cons: I found nothing to dislike.
Location: It is located on a good country road about 7 kilometres off the main 92 in a quiete location.
My wife and i stayed two nights, enabling us to tour both sides of the 92 main road, the road the hotel is situated on is excellent for gaining access to the EMBALSA,s (lakes) After you cross the first bridge there is a small cafe on the left overshadowed by the cliff face opposite, where you can buy higaditos con patata frita,or similar fare plus two tonic waters for a mere 3 euros for two. ALL THE FOOD AT THE HOTEL IS FRESHLY MADE, the owner is Italian and speaks good English,Spanish and Italian,of course. We were made to feel very welcome,we really enjoyed our stay, especially as we were priviledged to meet the owners mother,a lovely lady-we only dined in the hotel on our last night but the meal was mouthwateringly delicious.
