My own fault as I did not read the reviews but would not recommend it. Too outdated. Great breakfast buffer though.

Great hotel well situated for exploring Luxembourg

Posted Aug 6, 2017
Arrival was late due to Ryanair delay. The staff on reception were very welcoming. A minor mishap with a loss of bank card was handled very sensitively. We were able to leave our luggage in the hotel after check out as the return flight to London was quite late. Breakfast buffet was a delight with lovely linen cloths and napkins. Room was on sixth floor with amazing views. Thoroughly successful weekend.

Grand old dame, a little frayed around the edges

Posted Aug 3, 2017
Pros: location room size helpful staff good toiletries
Cons: bed's a bit small no restaurant
Location: see above
The hotel is right on the edge of old town, close to restaurants (but not one in the hotel) and sights (such as the art gallery and museums). The room was large and clean, but a bit dated. I'm sure in it's day it was a superb hotel. The staff was helpful. We really liked the Luxembourg Museum. It was well laid out and presented the artefacts and information in interesting ways. Museum of History and Art had a lot of interesting things to see, but was laid out in a confusing manner. There was very little English, they had English explanation papers in each room, but they didn't contain any information on the artefacts, just general information.

Nice, historic hotel close to the city center

Posted Jul 30, 2017
Very cool old place. Staff seemed offended that we needed to leave for our plane so early (4am), thinking we had trouble with the room. Nope, just a crappy flight. Lol

In the heart of Luxembourg City

Posted Jul 27, 2017
Location: The hotel overlooks the valley of the Petrusse and is one block from the cathedral. The Grand Ducal Palace is within very short walking distance.
I'm not a big fan of the modernist Kirchberg quarter and wanted the more comfortable feel of the old city center. The Grand Hotel Cravat has nice touches of old world charm, pleasant desk staff, and a great location near the Casemates of the Petrusse and various museums. There's no hotel restaurant, but the neighborhood has many restaurants for meals at every budget level. The hotel does offer breakfast, but we opted for a simple coffee and pain au chocolat elsewhere. We spent four nights here and were consistently satisfied with the cleaning service. By European standards, the room was spacious and the bathroom unusually large. I consider myself a "budget traveler" and found that the GHC offered very good value for money. I would return to the Cravat on a future visit to Luxembourg.

Just a location

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Pros: Location is the only thing was worth it
Cons: All of the conditions overall, parking
Location: Central loation, close to everything
I believe it used to be a nice place in the past but now all of the facilities are too old. The elevator sounds like an injured old train going uphill its last ride, no conditioners and overall rooms are uncomfortable and very sad looking...

Dear Guest, I am sorry that you have chosen the wrong hotel. We never had airconditionning, our elevators are vintage from 1945 and you can not expect smooth running like modern ones. I insist on saying that we are a vintage hotel. Please refer next time to the remarks of other guests. Best regards, Carlo cravat

Very nice hotel. Close to everything

Posted May 29, 2017
The staff were very kind and caring. The location was perfect for us to see the city and get transportation. Our only recommendation would be for the hotel to continue on their path to install air conditioning. Unfortunately not even Luxembourg will escape the changes to the environment.

Dear Guest, thank you very much for your nice comments and yes we are thinking on how to put air conditionning in this old building without taking away the nice vintage ambiance. Best regards, Carlo Cravat

Very nice hotel close to everything

Posted May 20, 2017
Pros: Had a room with a big balcony and great view over the city. Lovely public rooms. Classical look. Very nicely decorated room.
Location: A cross from one of the main squares with great views. Almost next to the cathedral. Many restaurants around.
Wonderful city, easy to walk, clean. The staff was helpful in giving directions and suggesting places to eat
