Beautiful hideaway next to the Volcano

Posted Jul 26, 2017
We absolutely loved our stay at Crater's Edge! The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome and special! They thought of every detail, even including binoculars and flashlights in the room for visiting the Volcano nearby. When they discovered it was our anniversary, they left us chilled champagne and chocolates with a sweet card. The room was gorgeously decorated and literally surrounded by the rain forest with glass on two sides, making you feel like you are sleeping right in the middle of it all! The bathroom was also beautiful and included a huge (big enough for two!) jacuzzi tub. Perfect for soaking on the cool nights! There is a small kitchenette and they left us tons of yummy fresh fruit, fresh baked bread and lots of snacks and light breakfast options that were perfect for enjoying before a day exploring. The actual town of Volcano Village, with a bunch of great restaurant options, is only minutes away. And Hawaii Volcanoes Natl Park is also only minutes away. Perfect escape from it all! You will not regret your stay here!

Right in the middle of the rainforest!

Posted May 31, 2017
Pros: Proximity to the Volcano Nation Park The room
Cons: I would have preferred opaque curtains instead of just sheers to have a little more privacy and sleep in a little in the morning if we choose too.
Location: Volcano National Park Hilo
Eric was a fantastic host and his recommendation of things to do and places to eat were super helpful! The room was located in the middle of the rainforest and was so beautiful. We really appreciated some of the finer things like the complimentary fruits and snacks which was a life saver on the treks. It was a very well maintained place and it was clear that the hosts cared about the guests and the property. It was a great plus that is was so close to the Volcano National Park. Note that this is more like a house, renovated to serve as a hotel - so there are only 2 rooms and might be lacking in hotel facilities like room service. But if that is not a problem for you, I would highly recommend this place.

Nice place but lacks some basics

Posted May 9, 2017
Good quite relaxing place with a hot tub. Well stocked for fridge and nicely finished bathroom. However, no daily room cleaning service, only once a stay fruits for breakfast, showers take a while to warm up.

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Many of our guests are couples on their honeymoon or a romantic getaway so we try to provide as much privacy as possible. We're always available just across the lanai, but will try to make it more clear in the future that we are here if anything needs restocked or cleaned during the stay. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve our guests experience!

Hideaway in the rainforest

Posted May 7, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: It is 1 mile to Volcano National Park which makes it very handy to go up and enjoy the many hikes etc. Lovely restaurants in Volcano.
We received a lovely welcome from Erik as soon as we arrived. He showed us our room and the hot tub and where everything was kept. Our room was amazing complete with fresh muffins, fruit and drinks for us to enjoy. The room had a spa bath , shower, heated bathroom floor, tv, comfy bed etc. Erik and Chris have really put a lot of thought and effort into making our stay a wonderful experience Thank you sooo much.

Quiet guest cottage in Volcano Village

Posted May 6, 2017 on Orbitz
Not a hotel, but rather an independent little guest room adjacent to a small house. Very pleasant and relaxing dwelling in ex-urban rain forest just a few miles from the National Park. Only downside was oddly high bed frame. Good food options in nearby Village.

Beautiful hotel in a rainforest setting.

Posted May 5, 2017
Pros: It's gorgeous!
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Location: It's near Volcanos National Park. That's basically what there is to do.
This is an amazing place - beautiful, quiet, comfortable, and with very pleasant proprietors.

Private, quiet lodging near Volcano National Park

Posted May 1, 2017
Pros: Quiet, private, comfortable, personal, location; pretty much everything
Cons: Nothing comes to mind!
Location: Volcano National Park, beaches, outdoor activities, and not far from Hilo
This is a bed and breakfast type of lodging at a home near Volcano National Park. There are 2 rooms in a separate building, set within tropical plants. Other than some typical neighborhood noise during the day (barking dogs, lawn equipment, etc), it is very quiet and private. It's a really lovely place to stay, particularly for couples. The room was spacious with lots of windows and a high, open ceiling. The breakfast component is in the room and for us included freshly made banana bread, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice. There is a microwave in the room along with a small fridge. The bathroom has a heated floor, shower stall, and jetted tub. There is a hot tub on the property, but we didn't use it. Our host, Eric, was easy-going, friendly, and very helpful. He has a log of knowledge of what's available in the area, including activities, food, and how to get to various places. I couldn't recommend this place strongly enough.

Quiet and unique bed & breakfast

This place is a beautiful nature sanctuary! I felt like we were staying in a tree house in the jungle--really cool and nicely furnished. The hosts were so welcoming and happy to give any recommendations to the area.
