Aloha, Thank you for choosing the Waikiki Gateway hotel. I am very sorry that the cleanliness of your room fell short of our high standards of quality. I assure you that this is not the norm at our hotel. I humbly apologize that this is the experience that you had. I am also sorry that you were not aware of the parking fee at our hotel. The daily fee is listed on Expedia.com and our parking charge is one of the lowest in Waikiki. I hope that we have the opportunity to see you again in the future so we may be able to provide the excellent experience that we are known for. Love & Aloha.

Very old and very small room. Front desk staff should be more "friendly". Building is very old and aged, cracks everywhere.

Aloha, I am sorry that you did not enjoy your room. We have made several upgrades in our rooms this year including genuine American walnut hardwood flooring, designer Embassy brand carpets, premium Fujitsu split A/C systems, premium Speakman Anystream shower heads, 47 inch LED flat screen TVs with the largest selection of HD channels in Waikiki, fresh paint and much more. Guests love our staff who are routinely mentioned as the most caring and offer the best service anywhere. I apologize that we missed the mark in creating a wonderful experience during your stay. Our goal is to provide wonderful memories for all of our guests and we will continue to work hard to make sure that this is always the case. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We hope that we have the opportunity to see you again so that we may give you the experience that we strive for.

Nice and clean hotel. 15 min walk to Waikiki Beach

Posted Sep 9, 2017
Pros: rooms, cleanliness, staff
Cons: move it closer to the beach?
renovated rooms and gorgeous. enjoyed the stay. only drawback was the walk to Waikiki beach - 15 mins. It is 7 mins to Rumfire bar (Sheraton) and to the shopping area, which is convenient

Not as close to the beach as we thought, but still a nice walk.

Basic holiday hotel

Posted Aug 23, 2017
The Waikiki Gateway is a basic holiday hotel which is very well located at the start of the Waikiki strip. The staff were polite and the main reception area clean and tidy but unfortunately the rest of the facilities were rundown and in need of a upgrade. One day of my stay 2 of the 3 lifts broke down and the local police were arresting people on one of the top floors. As a business traveller I expected more and was disappointed.

Aloha, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our great location and incredible staff. I sincerely apologize for the malfunction of the elevators on that day during your stay. The elevator issue was caused by overcrowding as a group greatly exceeded the posted maximum occupancy of the elevator. The presence of the police on one of the guest floors was unfortunate but necessary to insure the safety and security of our guests which we take very seriously. We want to make sure that one unruly guest does not disrupt the experience of other guests at the hotel. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as we will use the feedback to continuously improve our hotel. I hope that we will have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Love & Aloha, Kai

Value for money

Posted Jul 30, 2017
Pros: Staffs and location
Cons: Some upkeep on the hotel, it'll definitely add value to what already a great foundation, great staffs and location.
Location: Everything Waikiki has to offer.
On the bad notes the hotel ads was misleading, newly renovated does not translate to new bedsheets in my opinion, bathroom fixtures were worn out, vanity is dated, the balcony ceiling has cracks all over it, windows are not sound proof which can be pretty noisy if you're facing the motorway. But the aircon works well. Breakfast was good, but a bit of variety would make long stay much better. The Staffs were amazing, their friendliness and professionalism is second to none. Facilities like bikes, beach towels, free break breakfast, pool were a nice options to have.
