Great place to stay if meeting camping familyPosted Oct 2, 2017
Pros: I liked the roominess of the cabins and that it was convenient to meet with our daughter and her family who were camping in the area.
Cons: My only complaint was the dirty sofa which was promptly resolved.
Location: The cabins are in the woods in Fort Wilderness. There are two pools, children's activities, nightly character campfires, and shows that you can attend
We chose to stay in the Fort Wilderness cabins in order to meet up with our daughter, her husband and our grandchildren who were staying in their camper. Our cabin was very roomy (it could accommodate six people), well decorated in a rustic motif, and well equipped. The queen sized bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was large. The living/kitchen eating area had an open concept. The kitchen was adequately equipped if you were planning to cook simple meals...we really only ate breakfast there. For TV lovers, there was a large flat screened TV in the living room and a small TV in the bedroom. If you don't have a car, there is a shuttle bus service that can get you around the Disney properties. We also shared the rental of a golf cart with our daughter to get around within Fort Wilderness. Our only complaint was that the sofa in our unit was very dirty but when I left a note for housekeeping, they had the sofa cleaned before returned to our cabin! There are two pools in Fort Wilderness, numerous activities for children, available bike rentals, bike and walking paths, wildlife, nightly campfires with entertainment, the Hoopdee Do Review which was very entertaining and there was also a Mickey's Outdoor Barbecue which we did not attend but I understand was great. We would not have stayed here if our family had not been there, but we had a great time. If it had just been my husband and I, we would stay in one of the other resorts but the roominess of the cabin was great!

Easy Access to ParksPosted Sep 11, 2017
Pros: Had all the conveniences of home. Great accommodations.
Location: Located in Fort Wilderness Campground. Access to all of Walt Disney World via their transportation system. Universal and Sea World nearby.
Cabin was located near Fort Wilderness Campground bus stop. Made it easy to access bus to other locations for transportation to theme parks. Some confusion when checking out. Due to Hurricane Irma we had to leave the cabin before our reservation was finished. Called front desk to alert them we were leaving early. Ask us to stop at front desk when leaving. Did that. Next day we received a telephone call asking if we were going to check out since campground was to be closed and evacuated. Already had checked out and were already in South Carolina. Lack of communication among staff?

Cabin WoodsPosted Aug 26, 2017
If you enjoy cabin woodsy style vacation, this one is for you. The cabins have full kitchen. Rent a golf cart in advance to get around. The downside is mosquitoes, and the buffet is pricey at $35 pp. I was able to save $400 on my booking through Expedia than booking with Disney. I linked my stay with Disney Experience App by calling Disney and asking specifically to their Wholesale Dept. I was not hit with any extra charges beyond what I paid to Expedia from Disney.

Room for 6Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: Convenient to activities within WDW and close/easy drive to Universal. Safety is concern. I feel sage at this resort.
Cons: The sofa bed and the too big of TV need to readjusted. There seems to be too much focus on having a TV in the living room.
Location: All the Disney theme parks are a bus ride away. Universal was a 15 minute car ride.
We stayed in the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Even though they are 600(ish) sq ft, you wouldn't know it. There is a bed and bunk beds in the 1 bedroom. A sofa bed in the living area. The sofa bed is not as comfy as the old murphy bed and does take up much more room, but it comfortable enough for 2 nights. The TV in the living room is way too big for the living area. We were able to take a back road from the resort to Universal without having to get onto I-4 and into the traffic.
