Pros: location
Cons: management
Location: Everything is within walking distance
Room was great, front desk girl was great. My only issue is they didn't tell me the charge for valet on my card was only pending and would disappear after I paid for it. So the manager got real snippy with me after waiting for them to figure it out for about 10 minutes at the front desk. Get your act together clowns.

Keys and valet

Posted Nov 20, 2017
Keys had to be reset three times for failing to work on door. Had to wait for car up to forty minutes. That’s rediculous. Also after telling front desk to clean room it took over five hours for them to clean room.

We only stayed for one night, but the location was perfect and the room was huge. Most importantly, it was clean.

Nice, customer relations/cleanliness could improve

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Lovely view, and kind staff. We did however find a dead cockroach on the floor in the middle of the room under the desk. Therefore making it unlikely someone did a thorough vacuum of the room before our stay. The toilet was also clogged, which my boyfriend didn’t realize until he used it and tried to flush it. He had seen toilet paper in the bowl but had assumed I used it before him, which I did not. When I told the front desk about the roach she simply said “ok, well we cannot get cleaners to the room but we will have someone remove it”. I think when any guest tells you they found a roach you should begin with a very sincere apology. I did get one after asking for it. On the Saturday morning starting at 7am, a giant stage set up next to the hotel began playing rock at top volume, until 11 ish. It was beyond loud. Sleeping was impossible. The hotel was definitely aware of the event. Offering guests complimentary earplugs, or in the least warning them so they could purchase some, would have been very courteous. One of the staff did work with my sister to get a bottle of champagne for my room, which was very sweet an appreciated. Over all a clean room, with a nice view.

Needs lots of repair.

Posted Oct 14, 2017
Pros: Closeness to the World War II Museum.
Cons: Modernize the hotel.
Location: World War II Museum and walking distance to most attractions.
Hera our receptionist was wonderful. She made sure our stay was pleasant. But, the hotel needs work. Had troubled with the door, no water pressure and the elevators are ancient. Should have complementary coffee in the morning. I was there for the World War II Museum and it was amazing but parts of downtown New Orleans (French Quarter) are quite unpleasant.

Worst hotel experience in nearly 45 years

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: When hotel is not fully booked or when guest is staying multiple nights, do NOT give them the room with no natural light- the dungeon.
Location: Walking distance to groceries (room has fridge and microwave), convention centre, Riverwalk Outlet mall, Streetcar in front, Hotel p/u swamp tours.
No natural daylight-across from tall brick wall. Ice machine outside door: beeping upon check-in, 9 pm next night and 11:15 pm third night waking us up both nights--took two trips down to lobby per evening (45 min) to get someone to stop the beeping. Front desk did not answer phone calls. Fourth night guests filled Ice chests at 12:30 am & 6:30 am. When not beeping ice machine makes other noises. No sleep 4 night business trip. Full length mirror on bathroom side of door in front of toilet. Housekeeping only made one bed first night, did not restock coffee machine station supplies, or shampoo and conditioner---we had to go ask. No working fan in bathroom. Desk staff was courteous. Great location--20 minute walk to convention centre. Walk to most things or take street car. 19 Min. Uber to airport. Expected much better from a Best Western hotel.

Slowest Valet Service Ever.

Posted Sep 16, 2017 on Hotels
The room was just what was expected, the staff was very nice – – just one forewarning: they told us that valet would take 20 minutes, so we called ahead…add 42 minutes to that total and that's when we got our car. Property is three stars, but valet is a big zero.

Great location

Posted Sep 16, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: See comments above.
Location: World War II museum - excellent. Trolley to the Garden District. The Empire State Deli - close to Blake, excellent. Daisy Duke café - reasonable
The Blake was, as advertised, in a terrific location. Right along the trolley line and a short walk to Bourbon Street and Canal Street and not too far from the French quarter. Short ride to the World War II Museum which was excellent. It was nice to have a small fridge and a microwave in the room, but it sure would have been handy to have at least one towel rod in the bathroom. Draped the towels over the shower rod or the back of the chair - there was a hook on the back of the door, but not particularly adequate. For some reason the staff had the idea we were checking out of our room three days before we actually were scheduled to depart, so it was really dicey getting the room cleaned and finally resorted to going downstairs to get toiletries and clean towels. They were very apologetic, but it happened three separate times. The room does show some wear. The bathroom mirror hanging on the back of the door is all silvered and rusted and it wouldn't take much to replace it which would certainly improve the look of the bathroom. All the staff we encountered were unfailing pleasant and very helpful. I don't give it the highest marks, but on the other hand, I would stay there again and that says something We did not use the hotel's valet service as they wanted $45 a day for valet parking (they only parking they offered.) Looked on the internet and found a parking garage within two blocks that charged only $15 a day. Much more palatable.
