The Grand Old Dame of Basking Ridge

I used to live in Basking Ridge and made a point of staying at the Somerset Hills every time I returned for a visit. As far as the overall rating of this hotel goes, I feel it is underrated. Yes, the room décor is older, but the staff here is exceptional and equal to any five-star hotel. Kevin, Michael (the bartender in the Tap Room), and the nice gentleman serving breakfast have been there for years and could not do more to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel will be closed for most of 2018 for a major renovation, and I will miss them dearly.

Thank God the hotel closed for renovations the day we checked out. The hotel was dated, uncomfortable and dirty. The whole place just needs an update. Great location and beautiful building but hasn’t changed since the early 80’s.

Holiday stay very bad. No staff no amenities

Will need to contact hotel. Very disappointed in amenities. Holiday weekend no staff cold room no good heat. No clean clothes.

For the amount of monies payed, rooms were dirty. Wallpaper was peeling, room phone didn't work.

The hotel is definetly historic. However the room comfort is good and the staff is great. They will be closing for a year to renovate. The restaurant serves great food.

Quick over nite

Room wa a clean staff friendly and helpful Room starting to sho it’s age a svanity in bathroom had some water damage over would recommend not a lux hotel but more than adequite

One night stay

The hotel is a fine hotel however our late check in may have caused the front desk gentleman some inconvenience. He was rude when I asked about a king size bed saying “you booked on-line so you get what we give you”, I didn’t appreciate that.
