American Inn Bad Shape

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
If my one night rate of $300 (including tax) was rent for a month, this might have been acceptable. But when the area is compressed with conventions, they can charge a crazy rate like this. This is overpriced by at least $200+...like many independent hotels around the DC area.

week end concert

Posted Apr 25, 2017
Pros: PARKING AND LOCATION
Cons: BED CLOTHES.
Location: WE WENT TO A CONCERT AT POSITANO'S. CONCERT WAS GREAT AND DINNER EXCELLENT.
A VERY BASIC, CONVENIENT AND REASONABLY PRICED HOTEL. BED WAS POORLY FURNISHED WITH A DUVET WITH AN ILL-FITTING COVER, AS WELL AS BOTTOM SHEET THAT WOULDN'T STAY IN PLACE. PARKING WAS GREAT JUST OUTSIDE THE ENTRANCE.

Room was clean first day arrived, but next day cleaning person hair all over in the bathroom and on towels. They didn't restock any of the coffee items. After calling at the front desk we got it. Front desk person were very polite and nice though. The big draw back was swimming pool not open till summer n praking was very limited n congested. Breakfast was good

Sufficient for an inexpensive overnight stay

Room was fine. Not luxurious by any means. Had to kill two huge flies.

Not too bad

Room was very small, only room for a bed and a tv. No spa or kitchen like it says either.

Overbooked.

Posted Mar 26, 2017
Called to confirm a late checkin. Was told everything was ok. A few hours later got a call that I am transferred to a different hotel. Had difficulty to obtain the address of other hotel by email or a confirmation. They also did not transfer the free breakfast. When I asked on the phone what was the reason for the transfer, I was told (no joking) that this is due to a medical emergency at the NIH facilities. When I arrived at the new hotel I was told that American Inn is often overbooked (in particular, that specific night). Please note that I do not know anything about the facilities, cleanliness or comfort as I stayed in a different hotel.

We apologize for the inconvenience. I cannot speak to how information was given to you by a competitor hotel. I will confirm that it is not our practice to deliberately overbook our property. However, our location in very close proximity to several major health care and research facilities (NIH, NCR, Walter Reed and Suburban Hospital to name a few). For this reason we often get long-term guests who are required to unexpectedly extend their stay based on doctors orders or the pace of their research. As one of the few hotels that give great priority to our partnership with NIH, we strive not to further stress guest who are often dealing with grave circumstances by having to worry about displacement. We make every effort to not let this commitment impact other visitors. We would be honored at the opportunity to win back your business, should you ever decide to return to the area.

Location: location was fine
Upon arrival my son was on crutches Hotel wanted us to use an outside entrance with steps which was not acceptable Although we had booked well in advance they at first did not want to switch rooms and then when they did the room had no heat [which they did fix]. Then the noise the next am from the adjoining restaurant was very loud. When I asked to switch rooms again they would not do it. very poor
