Cute/Trendy hotel close to restaurants

Posted Nov 28, 2016
We enjoyed one night at the Carlyle. The hotel met my expectations and we will stay again when we go to DC or we may try another kimpton hotel when we stay in another city. The staff was very accommodating. We arrived early and they let us put our bags in a closet for safe keeping and they let us park there before checking in. The wine hour was fabulous for those who drink. I was able to request a Keirug so I could have coffee! We walked from the hotel to the White House and to the monuments and museums. It was quite a distance but we enjoyed looking at the restaurants that were on the way.

Comfortable

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Pros: The bed was so comfy, the area was nice and the decor was so nice! The manager made sure that my friend had an awesome bday surprise as well.
Cons: 1. The prices of the food in the hotel restaurant. 2. The shower needs a door otherwise water gets all over the floor. 3. Microwaves!!!
Location: It is always something going on in the area!
The staff were really pleasant and easy to talk to.

Awesome place to stay!

This hotel was amazing. From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left I felt welcomed. The valet guys were very nice and the front staff was very nice and welcoming when I checked in. Then I get to the room and there was a complementary bottle of wine and a note addressed to me in the room. The room was nice and very clean. The wine happy hour was awesome, something I've never seen a hotel do. The location is awesome very nice neighborhood and about. 20 minute walk to the White House. I will definitely be back.

Wouldn't come back

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Pros: not much
Cons: see above
Location: Nice location.
Heat was on, can't turn off so they give you a fan. Bartender was rude. I am a Kimpton member, so at check in they gave me a $10 raid the mini bar card. Then at check out they told me I couldn't use it (after of course I had $10 worth of food) because I booked through Expedia. Even though my rate through Expedia was $439 a night. When I ordered fruit and yogurt at the restaurant told them I was allergic to strawberries so they brought me a big bowl of yogurt and strawberries! My room did not have a clock anywhere. I called the front desk and asked if I was supposed to have one, they asked "do I need one?"

Hello Deirdre, I am sorry you were not able to regulate the room temperature to your desired setting, and that there was no clock in your guest room. Please accept my apologies for the bartender and your allergy request not being honored. Regards, Thomas

Pros: Folks were so friendly and relaxed--was traveling with my 18 year old son and he appreciated the casual atmosphere vibe. Great personal products.
Cons: Would be great to have a small business center there----but otherwise things were great.
Location: Fun to walk the neighborhood --great restaurants and fun shopping. A treat to see the embassies.
Super short stay but perfect for what we needed. The room was clean and a great place to kick back. Didn't take advantage of the wine tasting or the bikes to borrow. Also would have liked to run the area in the morning with their trainer.

Quiet neighborhood hotel with exceptional staff

Posted Nov 1, 2016
Pros: Terrific staff! Very quiet hotel and neighborhood. Nice restaurant and bar in the hotel. Evening wine tasting.
Cons: Room was small although very functional.
Location: Several excellent restaurants within walking distance. I very much enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Darlington House restaurant.
The hotel is located on a quiet street just off DuPont Circle. The staff is courteous, helpful, and enthusiastic. A free wine tasting every evening was well attended by guests. Rooms are nicely decorated and functional although may be smaller than at some hotels. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was spacious. I definitely would stay there again.

Pros: Overall facility and staff were fine. It had an interesting decor and the restaurant and bar appeared to be a very popular place.
Cons: The room had no drawers. The closet was wholly inadequate. The closet was small overall and there was no room for clothes to hang freely in length due to a shelf which had a safe on top of it.
