My Review of the Kimpton Carlyle

Posted Jul 18, 2017
Pros: The Hotel Staff
Cons: I did not see anything that could be improved, except that I thought there were just too many dogs in the hotel.
Location: I was there for business, so I did not really get an opportunity to hang out or find out what was nearby other than restaurants and upscale fast food.
I had a very good experience, especially with the hotel staff. They were very professional and accommodating. The hotel was close near several eateries and department/boutique stores. I can't compliment the Hotel Staff enough. However, while I like animals, I thought that there were way too many dogs in the hotel. My preference is not to stay at hotels that are pet friendly. I guess you can say that I have OCD and when I travel, I prefer to be in hotels that are not pet friendly.

Very nice hotel

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: Comfortable, modern room with temperpedic mattress, large walk-in closet, makeup area. Comfortable lobby lounge with tables to work, free beverages.
Cons: Very minor: add another mirror behind makeup area so women can see/do the back of their hair; provide paper towels and trash can in kitchenette.
Location: Good location-nice walk to main downtown (golden triangle).
Staff text you to make sure room is OK or if you need anything.

Heart of Dupont

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Pros: The bed, restaurant.
Cons: pilows and room AC
Great bed, room, restaurant. The pillows we average for as great as the other things were and the room AC would not cool to an acceptable level even after asking maintenance to fix it.

Decent Hotel in DC

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Pros: very comfortable beds, secured elevators/staircase
Cons: Cleanliness
Location: Half mile to the metro, restaurants and a grocery store nearby
Overall I was satisfied with my stay. The room is pretty small, but the beds are very comfortable. I was not a fan of the mini-bar/snack bar in your room and the exorbitant prices (This is mainly due to having a toddler and I was afraid he would grab and open something while I was not looking). When we first checked into our room, it appeared that the bathroom had not been cleaned as their was a hairball in the shower, a dead caterpillar in the shower, and hair in the sink. After that, we had no issues. Staff was very nice and pleasant. Hotel was in a residential part of town, which was nice. Restaurants and a grocery store nearby.

Upscale hotel

Posted Jul 4, 2017
Pros: the look, the location, the service
Cons: restaurant too expensive
Location: awesome location. Dupont circle is a beautiful part of town. Right outside tons of fun restaurants and shops
From the second you approach the hotel people are friendly. The lobby is beautiful, free coffee in the am. I was texted to make sure all was well which was a level of service that I have never had. The room was very beautiful. The bed was super comfortable. The decor was very nice. The bathroom was very lovely. The location of this hotel was superb. I will stay here time and again.

OK hotel

Posted Jun 28, 2017
This hotel has OK location near Dupont Circle, not far from large number of (not-upscale) restaurants, food and liquor stores and a few stores of other kinds. Neighborhood seemed safe and is not far from elegant Embassy Row. Not really close enough to tourist sites and museums to walk, and Metro station is about 10 minutes walk away, so location not ideal from that point of view. Staff pleasant, room clean, quiet and very large, beds comfortable. I would not hurry back or recommend it to others, however, because there was nothing at all about it that came across as special or highly enjoyable. I was particularly struck by the drab, unimaginative room decor, you might call it ugly, kind of the opposite of what you usually find in a fairly pricey, big city hotel. Apparently the theme in this hotel is black and white, thus very bleak (though I later realized the combo was actually light grey and dark brown). Furniture sparse and Goodwill-ish. Glass door to bathroom means flood of light should you be sharing with someone who gets up in the night. Internet at times iffy. There is a happy hour -- well-attended and somewhat festive, the other guests seemed like nice people -- but it's (strictly) from 5 to 6, which seemed too early to me, and only wine is served, so no good of course for someone who would prefer a non-alcoholic drink at that hour. This is a pet-friendly hotel and I was not thrilled to encounter huge dogs in the elevator. Fortunately never heard barking.

Hello Allison, I am pleased you found our staff to be accommodating, and your guest room spacious and with comfortable Tempurpedic mattresses. I am sorry the decor wasn't what you were expecting. During our hosted evening wine reception we also feature a refreshing summer cocktail and we always offer fruit infused water. Regards, Thomas

The hotel has free bike for guests to check out which is super convenient for us to visit DC. Everything si great except the room is not very spacious as we expected.
