From the moment we entered we were glad we chose to stay at this landmark hotel. Bernal was so kind and helpful when we checked in and made us feel very special. Everyone was professional, we were greeted as we left and welcomed when we returned from our day out. The hotel was quiet, never any noise from the halls, but the whiskey bar and top of the gate were still festive and lively. Drinks were very steep, but a liquor store on the lower level in the watergate shops allows for a less expensive drink in your room. Would love to see an outdoor pool for hotel guests in the future. Loved the convenient location, close enough for us to walk to everything. Only needed our metro card when we ended up so far away we didn’t want to walk back. Honestly though if walking is not a problem you could probably do without it.

The watergate is definitely an impressive hotel with a mostly attentive staff. My only critique was the fact that I was charged twice for incidentals by accident and that the process of booking the afternoon tea was arduous. They use open table for the restaurant reservations which wasn’t working for me so I eventually tried to book the reservation with the restaurant directly in person, the restaurant confirmed me over the phone but then a few minutes later sent me another link to open table where the same issue persisted. I was able to book the reservation eventually but when I got to the restaurant I was given another bill even though the experience was prepaid. I explained to the waiter that I had already booked online and showed him my confirmation which wasn’t an issue. But it just showed me the 3rd party open table reservation is super flawed and I think the hotel should do away with it and do something different for reservations. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay, the afternoon tea was great and the area around the hotel is super walkable.

Very expensive with service they provide. Shower leaking, shower door leaking Not enough room service. We had 3 rooms but all of them had sone issue and needed to change the room. But other issues with that room also. Not recommended.

5 star ratings, 5 star prices, 3 star condition. Although the watergate is a beautiful hotel and the staff is totally 5 star, the entire place is OLD OLD OLD and OUTDATED. My room was clean but riddled with stained carpets, stained drapes, AC was temperamental and the furniture was dark, old and from the 70’s. The Down stair lounge with red rose chairs were all filthy. Restaurant chairs were tearing, the surrounding area made me feel like I was in a 3rd world country. Someone please power wash the outside, paint, and buy some new furniture.
