Chiang Mai Challenge

Posted Aug 6, 2017 on Hotels
Single overnight to catch the train to Bangkok. Great location for our purpose, but while the hotel 'looks good' going in, it is very dated & any renovation must have been years ago. Loud speaker announcements for trains disturbed our sleep & lasted until late & started early (4AM). Good buffet breakfast.

The best of this hotel is the location, next to the train station. However the hotel rooms are worn and look very old, it seems that it used to be a pleasant hotel but not anymore. In my room the sewage smell was so strong that I had to keep the bathroom door closed permanently. The AC grills were filthy and the room was not clean, there was a lot of dust and dirt below the beds. The restaurant around this hotel are below average. The hotels is being refurbished - February 2016 - so expect banging noise during the day. I'd not recommend this hotel, for 100 - 150 baht a taxi may take you to much better options to stay downtown Chiang Mai.

It's too far from everything except the train station.... You need a motorbike or a bike or a car... Dealing with tuktuk or songtaew drivers everytime is very annoying... The hotel is old but they trying to make it clean but there were still ants in the bathroom. The breakfast was bad... I myself owns a restaurants for more than 10years so i know about this thing.. The food taste so much of MSG so in the end i ate only fruits.. They really need change the chef.
