Tired Hotel but close to town ok for a short stay.

Posted Oct 25, 2016
Pros: Close to town and reasonably cheap.
Cons: Hotel needs to be updated or at least cleaned.
Location: Several bar and restaurants nearby that are worth visiting, several golf courses nearby.
Hotel is close to centre of town with easy parking and access. Decor and facilities are dated and hotel could do with a good clean. Food is ok but nothing special and is expensive for what it is, fine for a short stay.

Great location, not a bad hotel

Posted Aug 31, 2016
Pros: Staff, communal areas, breakfast
Cons: Decor
The ground floor of the hotel was lovely - light and airy, with lots of sofas for people to sit and dissect their adventures together before leaving. Breakfast was good, and later on the bar seemed friendly and fun. Speaking of the bar, there was a lot of noise from the street and the hotel bar. There were a lot of revellers on the Friday night, who were mainly friendly, but gathered by the front door to smoke and chat, and this was directly under our window. Another issue is that everything in the accommodation part of the hotel seemed tired at best. Dark decor in the rooms, and a sort of old-people's-home feel to the place. It was a pity, as it seemed so promising when we arrived! There were a lot of positives, though - as well as the location right near the harbour and centre of town, the staff were all lovely, and I'd still recommend this to friends wanting to spend time in Dungarvan. However, it's definitely in need of modernisation, and it's very noisy on weekend nights if you have the window open. Don't book this if you're looking for a luxury boutique hotel; do book it if you want somewhere central to stay - especially if you like a good Irish breakfast.

Functional room needed at short notice. The hotel is in need of serious refurbishment. Bathroom was large and relatively modern. Overall not good value for rate paid.

Great location, rotten hotel.

Noisy and uncomfortable with an unfriendly staff member telling me I can't drink a take away coffee because it wasn't bought on premises. If the coffee was good there I'd have bought it.
