Great location, not a bad hotel

The ground floor of the hotel was lovely - light and airy, with lots of sofas for people to sit and dissect their adventures together before leaving. Breakfast was good, and later on the bar seemed friendly and fun.
Speaking of the bar, there was a lot of noise from the street and the hotel bar. There were a lot of revellers on the Friday night, who were mainly friendly, but gathered by the front door to smoke and chat, and this was directly under our window.
Another issue is that everything in the accommodation part of the hotel seemed tired at best. Dark decor in the rooms, and a sort of old-people's-home feel to the place. It was a pity, as it seemed so promising when we arrived!
There were a lot of positives, though - as well as the location right near the harbour and centre of town, the staff were all lovely, and I'd still recommend this to friends wanting to spend time in Dungarvan. However, it's definitely in need of modernisation, and it's very noisy on weekend nights if you have the window open. Don't book this if you're looking for a luxury boutique hotel; do book it if you want somewhere central to stay - especially if you like a good Irish breakfast.
