Great hotel in a great location

Pros: Great location, great hotel, wonderful views, good breakfast and nice staff
Location: Wengen is a picturesque village high up in the hills with no cars allowed. It is a great location for walking in the mountains
We stayed at the Belvedere for 4 nights and loved it. It is a only a short walk from the cable car, train station and shops/restaurants and they also provide a shuttle service on arrival and departure. The hotel is what you would think of a typical Swiss lodge. Our double room was spacious and had a great view of the Jungfrau mountain and valley. It also had a bath and powerful shower which were great after a long day walking in the mountains. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great with lots of options (cereals, fruit, yogurts, bread/croissants, eggs, bacon and sausages). The hotel also had a different 3 course dinner each evening with a range of options which was discounted for guests. Id thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone. Wengen is a really picturesque place and is a great access place for lots of walks in the hills or cable car rides to see the mountains and valley up close. The Belvedere is perfectly situated with only a short walk to the shops and restaurants (less that 2 minutes to the nearest) whilst having great views of both the valley and mountains.

Pros: View is wonderful. We can see the mountains, snow from insider the room. Staff is very friendly and helpful and greet guests.
Location: paragliding, hiking, biking, gliding....
Hotel does not provide conditioner but only shampoo. We ran out of the travel size conditioner we brought and asked the staff for some. The lady said they did not have it in stock and said would arrange to get us some. The next day she went to the Co-Op store to try to buy for us but the store did not carry it either. Even though we did not get the conditioner but her taking extra effort is highly appreciated!

For environmental and ecological reasons Swiss law prohibits air condition, since we are high i in the mountains we have a natural air condition by opening the windows. Charming older hotel in Wengen

We had a very nice stay at the Belvedere. The staff is helpful and friendly and, as par for the course in Switzerland, the housekeeping is immaculate. Although we never ate dinner at the hotel, the breakfast (which are included in the room rate were filling and generous. The location is away from the center of things, but that is no real problem in compact Wengen. If I weren't a tough grader, I would have given the Belvedere "5s."

Pros: The location is nice and I assume if you have a valley view it would be nice.
Cons: Act like you care about your guests, in the diningroom
Location: Go to the tourist information building a few blocks away ...don't rely on the hotel staff. There are amazing hikes.
The location is nice. The pick up at the train station is nice as you would have a long way to roll your luggage over a rocky path by the hotel. The room was dark and dreary. The view was of a hillside that let in little light. The quaint furniture was also dark. The hallway was dark. The bed was very comfortable and we eventually got robes. But the towels are paper thin. We asked for extra towel, but then they took them away. They use styrofoam cups. There is a kettle but no coffee or tea. The worst was the way we treated in the diningroom. We were a party of two. There were no nice tables for parties of two and they yelled at me when I said I wanted to sit at a table for 3 (that went empty). They don't seem to care about couples. The bar was only open one night. The common rooms are dark and dreary during the day. The diningroom food is subpar...tastes like dorm food - eat out.

Dear guest, We feel very sorry that we could not fulfill your expectations regarding the towels. We use indeed thinner ones for ecological reasons. The thicker ones need more washing powder and more energy and as we wish to act in favor of our environment we decided to use the thinner towels. We are very sorry to learn that you had the impression of an old and dark building/hotel. We renovate systematically in between seasons to keep and improve our facilities and standards. The building itself is historic, however all rooms and facilities have been renovated in the recent years but kept in the “Art Nouveau style”. We still own many original furniture from the ancient times such as lamps, chairs, sofas and cupboards which have a high historic value. No doubt that we will check with our employees what happened as this is not the standard of our service and we apology for any inconvenience caused. Great views from the room, excellent buffet breakfast and the nicest place to stay. We had one of the most memorable stay in this hotel.

Terrible place to stay.

we were at this hotel for 2 days, they came out to pick up our bags and drove us to the train station as it is hard to walk down with the bags. Their maitre'd and breakfast is very good however the male server was very rude, he shooed us off the table. Besides these 2 great features it was mostly terrible. I stopped by to talk to the person checking us in who didn't do anything for us. We had reservation for 4 people and had paid a upcharge for additional people. they had a normal size room with a armoire with no hangers, a desk, a small side table, a large bed a bunk bed, 3 chairs. this allowed not even enough space to stand in the room or the luggage. It seemed as if the bunk bed was pushed in the room. The bathroom has no exhaust and it smelled like wet dog by the time we were done with the shower.

Good cost-value hotel

Very nice views of the mountains and town. The room was clean and the hotel is walking distance to the Main Street and trains. Friendly staff (except the guy in charge of reataurant reservations) They preselected for us a table we didn't want to and we were unable to move to a window table even the restaurant was empty!

Well-priced option in beautiful Switzerland

Hotel was a little bit off the beaten path in Wengen about a 5 minute walk from the train station up a hill. Not a bad location, though, and the views from higher up on the hill are amazing. Really enjoyed the hotel and the staff did a great job answering our questions and helping us out with our issues. The included breakfast was awesome. Most "free" breakfasts are very underwhelming. This one was quite impressive for what you got. Rooms were definitely not super luxurious but this is a 3-star hotel so don't go in expecting something over the top. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the views from the patio provided a great apres-ski spot to have a Gluhwein and relax after a long day of skiing. Would definitely recommend the hotel. By the way, they have a little truck that picks you up from the train station so that you don't have to drag your luggage through the snow (we learned that the hard way!).
