The hotel staff constantly tried to get more money from me. Saying things weren’t paid. I was in a rush and had to walk all the back up to my hotel room to get parking receipt as it wasn’t on the system. If I didn’t have the receipt I would of had to pay again. They also tried to get payment twice for the stay. The hotel is lovely with a short walk to the beach. They seem to be in the middle of a refurb the bed was massive with brand new mattress with and excellent monsoon shower. Eating areas looked lovely. I think the reception is understaffed and possibly overworked. Amazing hotel that needs a little effort put into the admin systems

The hotel and staff were professional and friendly. Overall the hotel is well situated not far from the coast. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The quality/price ratio is well balanced.

Lovely, clean room. The guy on reception was friendly and helpful. A few small things would have made this an excellent hotel... - we booked a double room and got a twin. - there was a fridge in the room but no kettle. - the Wi-Fi was very poor. - the pool didn't open until 10am so there was no chance for a swim before breakfast as they stop serving at 10am and we had things to do during our holiday after that. - checkout was too early (10am) and barely gave us chance to eat breakfast and pack up. - we were disturbed in our sleep a few times by running water sounds from the bathrooms near by. - hotel was clean, tidy and modern. - receptionist gentleman was lovely. - food for breakfast was nice but very busy. - nice to have a large TV in the room to watch. - bathroom was clean and modern. - location was great and parking offsite easy enough to find.

Week in Ostend
Hotel Astrid was close to where I was attending a course and the beach. It was a clean hotel with good sized rooms. The staff were helpful and the breakfast had everything you would normally expect. I would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Ostend.

Great Value Huge Room hotel now refurbished
We were in the wing furthest from reception, above the swimming pool and health suite. These rooms have balconies and we were lucky to get a room on sea side, though you cannot see the sea because the Royal Gardens obstructs the view. It's fab being next to the local swimming pool with 3 open air pools and slides, plus it's next to the covered historic walkway adjoining the Thermae hotel. It's next to a tram stop just 1 stop to the centre of Oostende and 2 stops to the train station. It's also next to the last horse racing track in Belgium, open for racing every Monday in July and August, fireworks also every Monday July and August at 11pm, which you can see from the hotel balconies. I found the buffet breakfast fine, hot food of bacon, sausages, beans, eggs. Cold breakfasts of meats and cheeses, plus cereals and fruit, plus mini croissants/Danish/pains au chocolat. It's hard to fault it, you can eat as much as you like! The room was spotless, really large, plenty of storage space. The swimming pool is open 10am to 10pm. It's small and a little too cold, but there is a Jacuzzi to warm up in. We had exclusive use of pool and Jacuzzi.

I was cycling up the Belgium coast and wanted a bit of luxury on the way, while this hotel is good its not fantastic, hotel management need to up their game a bit, the buffet breakfast is ok but nothing special, the room was ok, the staff are reasonably friendly and helpful however check-out time was early at 10 am and I had to pay 20 euros to use the spa, I thought this would be included in the price, as I was lead to believe on the hotels.com website (guys - please make this clear)! Also for some reason when I booked the money was not taken straight from my account as usually happens, so ended up playing the hotel. Overall it was ok but I think I will try somewhere else need time.

Unfinished and not ready
The hotel is undergoing major improvements and as such was not ready for guests. Lack of sound proofing between the floor means you may have a disrupted stay and disturbed sleep as you can hear the movements of the guests above. The continental breakfast was extremely good but the bar was understaffed for most of our stay and some of the staff were quite grumpy towards the guests. We were told that we had been upgraded on our room but do not feel that this was quite accurate as the room was only standard.

Rooms basic, corridor feels like being in a cellar not nice at all could do with some paint and some pictures on way the walls to make it more welcoming. The deco lets the Hotel down. Cleaner didn't turn up until 17pm, not good. Anyway Staff was friendly but some of the staff didn't speak hardly any English.

Whilst our stay was pleasant, there was a few downsides, big issue was that there was no lock/chain on the inside of the door so on 3 occasions my 1 yr old opened the door and was halfway down the corridor, the noise of passing guests from the corridor was very loud as the floors were not carpeted, we had to pay extra for baby cot, and cooked breakfast not very nice.

My wife and I stayed in the Royal Astrid Hotel in Ostende over the New Year Holiday. The hotel seemed very full and breakfast was very busy and while the reception staff were helpful when asked questions, the whole stay was very impersonal. We were disappointed to find that we couldn't have dinner in the hotel on the one day when we wanted to, as we were told it had to be booked in advance, which we didn't know had to be done.

Great spa facilities and location
150 meters from the sea, less than 5 minutes walk to the center fo city and the casino, only 25 km from Brugge. Clean rooms, good and relaxing spa facilities (free jacuzzi & pool) I'd recommend the place

terrible hotel and not as it shows.
The hotel room was dirty and dusty the sheets over the bed had stains on them. The cupboards in the room had an old sink disused and very dirty i think it used to be self catering apartment. The leisure facilities were not included even though i asked for a hotel with a pool also nothing like the picture. I asked for a hotel with a car park and when i arrived the car park was full and they charged me 56 euros for 3 days in a public car park very unhelpful The breakfast was ok but not much of it I bought this stay for my husbands birthday present and was expecting the hotel to be alot better very very disappointing and not at all as described. I visit oestend quite regularly but will certainly not go back to this hotel .

The fourth floor corridor and our room were a little dated but the family room was massive and could have slept six. The staff in reception were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing, everything you could want. Not too much parking around so we paid extra for 24hours which enabled us to come and go and not have to find a space. Very near the beach

A pleasent hotel and excellent value for money.
This is the second time we have visited and found the staff most helpful. We only took breakfast but this was excellent. We used the pool but not the new facilities that have just been added to the "Wellness Centre" If we visit Ostende again next year this is the hotel of our choice. WiFi is available but strength depends on where you are in the hotel.

het hotel op zich was goed. personeel zeer vriendelijk. het ontbijt was goed en voldoende. bij aankomst was één van de twee kamers niet proper. handdoeken waren vuil. vriendelijk personeel aan de receptie heeft dadelijk nieuwe handdoeken gegeven.

Das Hotel ist mittlerweile auch schon in die Jahre gekommen. Das heißt, von der Ausstattung her müssen einige Abstriche gemacht werden. Ansonsten war es trotzdem ein schöner Aufenthalt in Ostende.

De kamer was proper. Maar zeeeeer dringend toe aan een update! Behangpapier dat van de muur komt. Vloer die stuk is en omhoog wordt gestuwd. Een raam dat uit de hangels komt. Een lavabo dat niet doorloopt. Een douche met zeer beperkte water straal! Zijn 3 sterren niet waard in deze staat!
