Very disappointed as rooms not cleaned daily, beds not made properly. We had been told in advance there was no food available including breakfast, but the place was closed most of the time and felt like there was no care or thought for any guests. 3 rooms booked for 3 nights.

Arundel is a lovely town to visit. The accommodation was in a great location.The pub is lovely. The staff are great and we enjoyed our breakfast. Our only problems are that the room had dog hairs which was off putting and the shower water was tepid. The pub is closed on Mondays so there was no breakfast. This was disappointing because we were not informed, nor was it factored in the price.

Good place to stay for exploring Arundel. I would have given more stars but unfortunately there was no breakfast. This was meant to be included, but no-one around in the morning. No response to me subsequent message either

I booked this hotel as it had a restaurant but told on arrival it was closed. Also tried to get Internet but after putting in the code there was no Internet available. Breakfast was far too late had to be in a meeting at 9 doesn't start until 9. No body there when I checked out at 8.30 so had to just post the key through the letterbox but was very clean and comfortable so I would just advise don't book if you're on a business trip. If you're on holiday it will be great. Also after booking please advise no restaurant as I really didn't want to go and find dinner thanks

Great experience here. The new staff team really looked after me, from when I arrived until I left. I was greeted by a very polite and professional young member of staff who got me checked in quickly and showed me where the rooms were. The atmosphere in the pub was great so I went straight back in for a drink! Really good breakfast made fresh. I got some local tips and advice on places to visit too from the staff that all worked out perfectly! Thank you very much St Marys Gate!

Romantic break
Hotel booked for romantic getaway, excellent area to stay in just a short walk into town. Room clean and comfortable with everything needed. Shower a bit useless head needs sorting coffee maker great idea and parking directly outside. Bed very comfortable indeed. Right next to pub with open fire so perfect. A few mishaps booked 3 nights b&b but only got 2 breakfasts because one was on new years day and pub was closed so not brilliant and could have done with a daily room check cleanup as had to keep asking for clean cups toilet rolls etc. Had a great time there but new years eve the pub was very busy and lots of lads out the back of pub by the rooms getting very drunk and loud and being sick right outside the door had to ask them to move away several times but not great idea having that area there so close to the rooms. Overall was worth it we enjoyed our stay. just sort out those mishaps😉

Average stay
We booked for New Year’s Eve as it suited our needs and the price was good and included breakfast, which was confirmed by The St Mary’s Gate Inn directly. When we arrived we checked in and were taken to the room only to be told that breakfast was not included and we should have been informed but we were not, we were told breakfast was included. The room was tired and needs better cleaning and the bathroom towel rail did not work so the bathroom was cold so did not shower. On check out nobody was around and the pub was closed and locked up with no key drop with no instructions so we had to leave the key in the room and pull the door shut. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Poor New Year visit
Booked two nights for NY Eve and Day with breakfast. Was informed on arrival there would be no breakfast on NY Day as they never provide, despite this being confirmed on the booking, and pre arrival call. No food on other days as no kitchen staff, bar closed early all with no advance notice. NY Eve someone was sick outside our entrance door (was from the car park not an indoor corridor) and this stayed there 24 hours before being cleaned. Whole impression of couldn't care less......

Good, but not perfect.
Comfortable bed. Room wasn’t ready on check - in, but we had a free drink whilst waiting. Powerful shower. Towel rail efficient. Clean bedding and towels. Warm . Electrics and internet cable suspect. Wi-fi connection intermittent.Loo roll holder missing. Loo seat loose. Dusty blinds. Poor staffing levels owing to sickness meant it was closed two nights and no routine service. Needs two bedside tables and lamps rather than redundant chair. Considering it is dog friendly, no consideration as to the dogs needs- washing up food bowls and tinned food storage. A fridge would be good.

A little disappointing
The location was excellent in relation to closeness to the village. The accommodation could have been better as we had no hot water in the shower form the Thursday that we arrived till the Saturday before we left after the whole shower got replaced. The furniture had a covering of mildew/damp/mould and really needed attention although it was fit for purpose. The pub was comfortable and staff were polite and the breakfast was very nice.

Convenient location, let down by the noisy plumbing which meant we needed earplugs for a decent nights sleep. Very difficult to set the shower temperature which was acknowledged by a sign on the en-suite door, which of course you don’t see until you arrive. Breakfast quality variable - first day was cooked to perfection, 2nd day not so good (bacon & mushrooms undercooked, sausage over cooked).

Nice quiet accommodation in a lovely part of Arundel. Staff really friendly and helpful. The shower in one of the rooms was a little weak and without air conditioning the rooms were very hot during the heatwave we have just had. But overall good accommodation and would definetly book again.

The staff were wonderful and so helpful. We had requested an early check in as going to a wedding and this has been sorted and our room was ready when we arrived. The weekend we were here there was a festival in Arundel so parking was a nightmare but we had a space at St Mary's within half an hour. Slept very well the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great and very welcome and lots of fresh coffee on tap. Overall a great place to stay and would certainly come back again.

The shower was poor and bathroom a bit shabby and in need of updating. Apology notice on bathroom door saying they had taken the property over only the week before and aware there were issues to be addressed. Very comfortable and peaceful but needed some tlc. Superb location for town and castle gardens.
