Delightful, retro-styled waterfront boutique hotelPosted May 4, 2017
Pros: The shortbread and caramels, the robes, the room, the wooden sleeping cat key chains.
Feel like you stepped into the roaring 20s in this intimate Art Deco-styled hotel on the old waterfront in Leeds. Elegant black, white and red color scheme in the lobby went well with the gracious staff. Our room was spacious, with fluffy cotton robes, staff-made shortbread and caramels every night and a super-comfy bed. Loved it!!

Gone downhill very quicklyPosted Apr 20, 2017
Pros: Good location to town...quaint
Cons: The room I had was very tired for 'luxury double' and had no decent facilities.
Location: Very close to town center and all Leeds has to offer
I've stayed here a number of times...booked a 'luxury double' which was very disappointing. Tired shower, Nescafe rather than fresh coffee, noisy location at front of hotel, cold staff, unwanted wake up call, rubbish breakfast. Have recommended in the past...won't in the future.

Lovely staff but needs workPosted Apr 10, 2017
Hotel was probably lovely once upon a time but now the decor seems quite dated. The beds are large and comfortable. We thought the little hatch for room service was very cute however they didn't actually use this when we ordered food. The food was lovely. We also enjoyed the complimentary fudge. Seems strange that they only provide one robe, one bath and hand towel for two people in a double room. Overall cleanliness of the room was not good. The bedroom was passable but tired but the bathroom was very grimy.

Great location, great hotelPosted Apr 10, 2017
We stayed at 42 the Calls for the first time last weekend, and had a great experience. The staff were lovely and the room overlooked the river and was of a really high standard. Would definitely recommend staying here if you want a special experience beyond the standard chain hotels.

The room was full of character and spacious. The views of the water were stunning. However I was horrified to find that Expedia had charged me £170 for one night in an executive room and it didn't include breakfast.

Gorgeous HotelPosted Mar 23, 2017
Pros: I loved the quirky old building and the little extra touches like shortbread in the rooms and a glass of wine on arrival.
Cons: £50 deposit in case the room was trashed. I think they should have just taken your card details in case this happened. I'm still waiting for a refund.
Location: Try the 'Alchemist Bar'. It's beautiful with amazing cocktails. The new shopping centre where John Lewis is looks really impressive as well.
I loved it here. The room was a quirky shape with exposed beams, a massive gorgeous bathroom, and the beds and pillows were so comfy. The only slight problem was that I was too tall to stand up in the shower and had to do a slight limbo to get my head under it, but the water flow drenched you, and was so lovely it was hard to get out!

Hotel close to station overlooking riverPosted Mar 13, 2017
Pros: Clean, friendly and relaxing.
Cons: The rooms a little to warm.
Location: Leeds centre Royal Armouries with free ferry to the station. The footbridge.
Arrived late so took taxi from station to hotel. Next day found it easier to walk with cases. Reception welcoming and the wine was very nice. Room overlooked the River Aire and Brewery Wharf on opposite bank. The century bridge almost next to the hotel making walk along river and to the local attraction very pleasant. Breakfast in small basement restaurant almost at River level. Good food with generous portions. Room clean. Bed comfortable. On suite good facilities and clean. For business trip free wifi ample speed and 3 good quality reasonably priced restaurants near by. Not noisy. lift to floors above ground but not to basement. Accessibility facilities not visible. Good hotel. Will go back.

Good view overlooking the river Aire.Posted Mar 2, 2017
Pros: View over the river and central position.
Cons: See above and reception staff should develop the smiling skill and learn to be more welcoming.
Location: Easy access to all Leeds central attractions and shops: minster, armouries, town hall, art gallery.
Room, although clean, was in need of refurbishment: carpets worn, furniture damaged and bathroom wanting brightening up. I suspect nothing has been done to keep the room in tiptop condition since the hotel was opened.

Special night away for my wife's birthday..was upgraded to a king size riverside room ... loved everything about the room, the service on arrival was brilliant and would come back tomorrow if we could.
