Thank you for your review Paul, we tried to contact you to find out what your concerns were with Hotel Portao Diaz and business travel. We have high speed fibre Wi-Fi and two conference facilities. Regarding the kitchen, we apologize for the inconvenience as they were replacing the extractor fan, which could have been the cause of the smell. We have since started renovating the entire kitchen and this will be complete within the next few days. We hope to see you again the next time you travel the Garden Route.

We would not suggest traveling anywhere in South Africa on foot, especially at night. We have spent a lot of time and money on renovating the rooms to the standard that they are now and we pride ourselves on how modern and comfortable they are. Dear Mr. Johannessen, Thank you for taking the time to review us. It saddens us to learn that you did not enjoy your stay at Hotel Portao Diaz. As with many developing countries, South africa is not the safest place in the world to be on foot, especially as a tourist, this is why we advised you not to walk to town and offered to arrange a taxi for you. Mossel Bay is one of the safer towns, but we do unfortunately still struggle with police corruption and fishing for bribes from time to time. We are situated about 5 minutes drive from midtown, our location is focused on a cultural experience and not a beachfront or town experience. We offer the true South African experience. As far as your concerns with the room goes, I can assure you that we have investigated the matter and the necessary steps will be taken against the people responsible to ensure that this does not happen again. We have added 4 more Wi-Fi routers to ensure better Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel. I am not sure if you had the standard breakfast for R50 ($3.30) or the buffet for R75 ($4.99), but we appreciate your feedback and will look into improving the breakfast. We hope that next time you are in town you will consider staying at Hotel Portao Diaz so that we can do everything in our power to change your mind about our wonderful establishment.
