Creaky beds and floors, cannot sleep

Posted May 9, 2017
Old decrepit. You can hear every pin drop and your bed creaks like a vampire movie. People upstairs were stomping and I was convinced floor would collapse. Mattresses are from 1800. No elevator. Big hassle. Unattentive and completely careless front desk staff. Gavee my room key and the next door key. I could have walked in their room anytime. I told the desk at checkout and they said "that's ok". Keys are from 1800's, lileetal, not secure magnetic . Totally authentic colonial era accommodations experience if you're into that.

I love the white mountains

Posted Mar 21, 2017
It was amazing, I have camped in freedom & effingham since I was born I am now 52. Summer, Fall, Winter and spring this is gods country THIS is what makes America great by history we need to preserve it and not let our way of life change. Live Free or Die GOD Bless America The people at this hotel are inviting and make you feel at home. It's close to North Conway and Close to the ski areas . I omwned a home in Merrimack NH built in 1891 it was beautiful this hotel made me feel at home just like that house. The food was excellent and I'm only sorry I waited so long on Saturday night to eat as I missed the prime rib special. Everything I had was excellent from clam chowder & steak tips to the cheddar cheese soup with the eagle burger ( I may have the burger name incorrect ) but none the less it was oh so satisfying I will be back annually Doug L

Charming, free cookies, good coffee. Excellent dining and service. Could use on-site ATM and Wi-Fi bandwidth is below average and spotty. But we didn't stay for the technology. Beautiful locale and close to everything. Will definitely return in the future.

It ticks the boxes

Posted Feb 12, 2017
Sure, it's old. But it's a nice spot with friendly staff. We were looking for something (a) comfortable, (b) with character, (c) clean, and (d) a nice vibe, and (e) close to skiing. This isn't 5-star marble-lined luxury, but there was a nice range of guests, it was quiet at night, and it checked all the boxes for us.

The rating for cleanliness doesn't mean the room was dirty. It's just that this old carpet and furniture seen to be so long in the tooth that they are beyond cleaning. The room was freezing, the hearing couldn't really keep up. Staff was nice, just at the front desk they were talking bad about Expedia and other travel portals to cover up an error in reservations for about guest ("They're lying to you").

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are disappointed to hear about your heat. The cold NH winter has certainly challenged our heating systems, but they have held strong and kept our guests warm this winter. We do hope you will visit us again soon.

Eagle Mountain House

Posted Feb 11, 2017 on Hotels
Room was very nice, beds were very comfortable, location can not be beat. Great to get up in morning and have breakfast buffet before heading out to cross country ski right at the door step. Great to have the lounge when coming in from a full day cross country skiing. Great place for the price!

one of my favorite hotels in New Hampshire

Posted Feb 10, 2017
Pros: The friendliness and kindness of all the staff. I also love the ambiance of the old "grand down east feel"
Location: On a mountain, x-country skiing right out the doorway
The staff is what makes this hotel one of favorites. They can't do enough for you. Friendly, helpful, and they even make homemade cookies and hot chocolate in the afternoon after you've been skiing.

The skiing in Jackson drew us to the Eagle Mountain House, but the stay proved to be more than we could have hoped for! All of the staff were incredibly helpful and kind, especially Jane at the front desk who answered many questions for us and made recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. The Eagle Mountain House's central location allowed for skiing all over town and quick travel to local restaurants, skating and snow shoeing. We loved our stay and will certainly return soon!

Love the historic hotel, but the mattresses...

Posted Feb 6, 2017
Pros: Very historic.
Cons: The mattresses need to all be replaced. Other people have said the same thing.
Location: Cross country skiing right outside the front door. Downhill 15 minutes away.
I like this hotel. I stay at it in the late 1980s and then also this past weekend. I like that it is located in Jackson and I really like the historic aspect of it.
