Beautiful old inn

Posted Oct 10, 2016
Pros: The view from the porch.
Cons: The interiors of the rooms need a paint job but I know they will get to it in time. The exterior lights could really do with the cleaning. They look
Location: We drove into North Conway and took the Conway scenic Railroad.
This is a beautiful old inn with some lovely features. Love the vintage elevators that reminded me of the old stores back in the day. Very cool. The end needs a little bit of TLC but it looks like they are slowly renovating it. The linens were and bathrooms were clean which is the most important thing. The bathroom was beautiful . The porch and the rooms could probably do with a paint job but that is cosmetic and not really that important. i'm sure they'll get to it in time. Small things like making sure that all the exterior lights are clean and not covered in cobwebs and dust would really make a big difference. The view from the porch is magnificent.I love the ambience of the place and kept thinking about the age of the inn and all the stories that these walls must hold. The front desk staff are very friendly and very accommodating. We had originally booked a room with a queen bed and a pull out couch because we needed two separate sleeping arrangements and when we checked in we realized that the sofa bed did not work so they did their best to find us another room. The only downside I was saying is that they were very short staffed in the dining room because it is peak autumn leaf season and was very full so the way to the dining room for a little bit longer than usual. The buffet breakfast in the morning was very lovely and the wait staff was very friendly. If you were looking for perfection, this is not the place for you.If you want character ,this is the place.

Dated & poor service

Posted Oct 2, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Complete refurbishment, bar staying open to serve guests to a reasonable hour.
Location: The location is remote in a mountainous area with lovely scenery. It is close to Mt Washington which is well worth a visit.
The hotel was tired, dated & in need of refurbishment. On the nights we stayed (Sat/Sun) the bar closed at 10pm & 9pm. As the hotel is not close to anything within walking distance this meant an early night which was very disappointing. The staff were not particular helpful on this point either & only seemed to be interested in finishing up & getting away.

Great location but old tired hotel.

Posted Sep 20, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Remodel the rooms.
Location: Central location to the Mt. Washington valley region. Many places to eat.
Centrally located in the white mts. but this hotel has seen better days. Small hotel room. OK if you want an old country hotel but not up to many newer hotel standards.

Enchanting, quaint, delightful place to stay

Posted Sep 18, 2016
Pros: Everyone was very gracious and kind. The ambience was wonderful. The design of the suite was really cute. I felt like I had gone back in time.
Cons: The communication between the hotel and Expedia obviously could be improved. Also, the air conditioning needs to be upgraded to include every room,
Location: The location was excellent and lovely. Not much to do unless you golf, but we enjoyed shopping at White Mountain Puzzles.
All was quite delightful, cookies waiting for us with cider, a vintage elevator, the old phone booth, etc., except for one thing. I booked with Expedia for a room with two double beds. I GOT a room with a king bed in a pet and smoking room. Not acceptable! So the hotel graciously offered to trade my room, but there were no double rooms left. Instead, we got a room with one queen bed and a hide-a-way sofa in the living room. That room did not have air conditioning, and my traveling companion was not impressed, nor was she completely comfortable in the living room.

Gave me "Expedia Room" their words not mine

Posted Sep 7, 2016
Pros: nothing
I arrived after renting this unit with my app @ expedia.com and they offered me the "expedia room" management’s words, not mine, unless I paid an upgrade. I looked at the "expedia room”, upgraded room, and thought I will pay the fee. When we got in the "upgrade room" there were dead bugs all over the bathroom and we walked into cobwebs to turn on the AC. When then noticed the paper the housekeeper wrote a note on was previously damaged by water and looked very old. The AC did not work and the bed was rock hard and we were traveling with our son and could not imagine how bad the old pull out couch bed would be, so we left. They offered back the "expedia room" and we said no thank you that this was not as described. Their hallways were dirty and looked like they have not been vacuumed in months. We called expedia to let them know we left and they said a manager would confirm if we could be refunded in the morning. I called back two days later and after 2.5 hours on the phone expedia said the offered us a free upgrade and free breakfast. They lied. I would stay far away from this place as I paid full price plus upgrade fee and they will not refund me, they told expedia three time they would not refund they are holding me to it even though I did not stay.

Mountain views

Posted Aug 26, 2016
We had stayed here once before and nothing had changed. It is a very historic place to stay and has a wonderful views of the mountains. We had a loud upstairs neighbor and I tried to call the front desk at 10:30-11:00 pm to ask them to contact the people. Nobody answered the front desk phone so I had to get out of bed, get dressed, and walk downstairs to the front desk to complain about the noise! I sleep with ear plugs so you can guess how loud these people were if I could hear them through ear plugs!
