Needs a MAJOR RENOVATION

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Nice location, gorgeous exterior (*note: exterior), fun arcade for the kids.
Cons: Redo floors and elevator; better carpeting; change drapery; improved food choices; faster internet, please.
Location: Climb Mount Washington!
We spent one night at the Eagle Mountain Hotel. It's a historic and preserved hotel in the heart of New Hampshire, not too far from Mount Washington. It was quite disappointing to discover, however, that rather than being a charming, unique hotel, it was a mostly run-down, creaky-floored hotel with a barely functioning cage elevator and mediocre service. Food-wise, breakfast is not included, and the hotel restaurant offers so-so food with little variety, especially for various dietary needs (GF, veg, etc.). Would love to see this beautiful building restored to the level of luxury it deserves.

Very Disappointed

Posted Aug 12, 2015
Pros: Not much, sitting on the large porch was good. The rocking chairs could use a coat of paint.
Cons: Stair cases, rooms, rugs were worn, in some cases a coat of paint is needed. The dinning room and entrance gave off a depressed atmosphere.
Location: Located away from Conway which can be a plus. Shopping and Story Land near by, gorges, caves etc. you need to travel to.
Run down, needs a lot of maintenance and repairs. Front desk, bartender, waiter weren't very pleasant. Golf Pro was personable and maid service was quick. Facility was located close to a busy street. It's ok to have old furniture but not so chewed up. Window air condition was about a foot away from the bed and blew on us all night. The gift shop had nothing in it. They should just close the door. We've stayed at several historic hotels and by far this has been the worst. Would not return or recommend it.

Historic charm in a quiet mountain setting

Posted Aug 9, 2015
Pros: Historic charm in mountain setting
Cons: Update the pull out beds, scrape and paint the room area ceilings.
Location: Set in quiet Jackson town within 30 minute drive from active Conway and Cog Railway ride to Mount Washington and close to several mountain drives.
Stayed two nights in a two room suite, We loved the old buildings charm with double gated elevator, old telephone switchboard, use of keys not key cards, expansive covered front porch with rocking chairs and friendly staff. We realized the wood frame construction was not sound proof enough for our excited two boys when we received the please be quiet call from the front desk. The hotel shows some age but overwritten by the historic charm. A great hotel for the New Hampshire white mountain area.

Nice surprise

Posted Aug 3, 2015
Lovely setting and journey getting to this hotel. Room was charming with comfortable (yet squeaky) beds. Bedding was nice but pillows could have been more forgiving. Dining room was pleasant with good breakfast buffet. Big bonus was the fantastic veranda and morning views of the mountains. Would love to go back for a longer more relaxed stay next time while travelling through the White Mountains.

Close to Pinkham Notch

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: Location
Location: Hike or drive Mt. Washington
Hotel is very close to Pinkham Notch and is a good choice for those who wish to hike Mt. Washington. Definitely a historic hotel. Does not have all the bells and whistles, but its main draw is the old world charm. The room was comfortable, make sure to bring a multiple outlet plug as there were many available plugs in the room. We carry a lot of electronics so we are always prepared with our extra plug. Nice shower with great water pressure!!

Pretty Hotel on the outside

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: The lobby.
Cons: See above
Location: There is alot to do around the area.
The hotel looks pretty on the outside. Inside, they need an interior decorator, country primitive wallpaper patterns mixed with waverly pattern curtains. The carpets are worn with holes in them, windows dirty, staff not very friendly, no customer service with some of the staff, food is overpriced and not that good, disorganized. If they are going to market the hotel as a historic hotel they need to bring it up to par with other historic hotels. The room is overpriced and very mixed matched.

Needs some TLC

Posted May 20, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed in the "m" section - room M9. Was a bit separate from the main hotel. Wallpaper was wrinkled and cut in sections. Mattress was a 4 out of 10. Bath was fine. I like the older Grand Hotel feel but they need to do some updating. Carpet on the stairs had 4-5 inch hole that was covered over with an area rug. My son and I played ping pong in the game room which is a nice feature for families. The ping pong table was pretty beat up and more holes in the carpet where you stand to play. Scenery from the long deck is beautiful. They need to spend some money on basic upkeep--- the hotel has a ton of promise but please don't let this historic place deteriorate
