Sunset at Cannon Beach! #beachbound A fantastic brewery in Whitefish, MT. In 1994, Minott Wessinger, the great-great grandson of brewing pioneer Henry Weinhard began construction on the Great Northern Brewery. Whitefish, Montana was chosen as the location of the Brewery for its rugged beauty and pristine water source. By 1995, Minott had completed one of the most state-of-the-art breweries, for its size, in the entire country. Designed by world-renowned architect Joe Escherick, the Brewery boasts the title of being the tallest building in Whitefish - at a whopping three stories!
We at Great Northern are proud to brew some of the world's finest lagers and ales. We're hell-bent on brewing balanced, approachable and unique beers of the highest quality.
Great Northern beers are made by way of the age-old tradition of a A Glacier Hotel located outside the park in Whitefish. It's located on the back 9 of the Whitefish lake golf club. It was surprisingly clean and well taken care of for being built in the 1980's. As you can see it is pet friendly which is important for me. Sunrise!! So pretty 💕 A gull looking for food in Cannon Beach, Oregon #beachbound
The Breakfast is AMAZING!
Loula's is the second restaurant for Montana friends and restaurateurs Mary Lou Covey and Laura Hansen. They are the Lou and the La that together know what it takes to make a restaurant work. Loula's is located in the historic Masonic Temple in two large sunny rooms filled with Montana art and photography that changes six times a year. Loula's feels infused with a curious mix of old and new. Loula's Cafe is located in the heart of downtown Whitefish.
They occupy the lower level of the historic Masonic Temple on the corner of 2nd Street and Lupfer Avenue.
LouLa’s most unique and special product is their PIE!! Their little bakery makes “from scratch” 3000 – 4000 fruit pies each year. We use fresh or frozen fruits like Flathead cherries and wild huckleberries, no canned stuff! They have been nationally recognized for our great homemade pie in books, magazines and even on National Public Radio.
Loula's serves pie by the slice or by the whole pie to take home A wonderful place to stay with stunning views of the lake. The restaurant is 5 star all the way, offering some home grown favorites and wild game like, my favorite Elk Ragout. The Bulldog building is over 100 years old! Thanks to the Stumptown Historical Society and helpful old timers around town, we know quite a bit about the colorful history of this building and its various incarnations over the past century.
Built in 1903, the building was originally named the Dodge House. During the early 1900’s, it was called Houston’s Hall after Dr. Houston, a railroad doctor and surgeon who had offices on the second floor. The second floor was later occupied by other doctors— occasionally used for boxing matches—and also served as a meeting place for Masons and other fraternal organizations.
During this same period, the primary business on the main floor became known as the Pastime Pool Hall, which was later owned by various members of the Akey family for nearly 50 years. In addition to pool, the Pastime was the place to go for card games such as poker, pinochle and pan. During the prohibition era, the Pastime survived selling everything from guns, fishing tackle, batteries, and work gloves, to tobacco and cigars. There was even a soda fountain for teenagers located in the basement during a short period following World War II We caught a break in the clouds and enjoyed this beautiful sunset.
