Nice, small ski-lodge

Posted Jul 30, 2017
Overall, a comfortable and clean hotel, with friendly staff. Why 3* then? Amenities and service. 2 issues, which are big, IMO. First, Wi-Fi. Great in the lounge, but very patchy - almost unworkable - in rooms. Repeated complaints to staff didn't yield results as no IT in house, but lives in another city. Second, the shower. Maintenance came right away on complaint they the showerhead is faulty - it was blocked. TL;DR, it took 36 hours to get another shower head, which didn't quite solve the problem. Also, no shuttle service. But all in all, it's a nice place to stay. The plus points are that it's near the ski runs and the in house restaurant (Khandahar Cafe) is rated one of the best in Montana.

Thank you, Barry. We have invested in fiberoptic cable to the Lodge for the WIFI so it is disappointing to hear that it did not work well for you. We will look into this. I am sorry to hear that maintenance was not more timely for the shower.

Maybe better in the winter

Posted Jul 26, 2017
Hotel is very pretty in the online picture with snow and nice in the summer with lots of wildflowers planted in front. Parking is limited and you end up in a dusty gravel lot down the hill and across the street. Lobby is nice, ski lodge wise. Rooms can be small, somewhat dated, but adequate. We were less happy with the loud window air conditioners. Had a loft room one night and it was very cramped. Sleeps 6 but there were only two of us. Switched to a standard room and it was better but we had trouble sleeping with the AC noise in both. Exercise room, sauna and hot tub were showing their age.

Awesome really in every way, but too many stairs and no elevator for poor grandma.

The staff was very friendly, and the room was amazing! No elevators, so we had to climb to the third floor. We loved it.

What a great place to stay. Location was wonderful for the wedding that we attended. Chairlift ride and Alpine Slide were walking distance from Kandahar. Great restaurant! Room was nice and clean. Any staff that we interacted with was excellent. Close enough to the quaint city of Whitefish, about 7 miles. Would highly recommend. Only one surprise, they do not have an elevator. Lodge was built 30 years ago, guess that was not required then.

Thank you for the high five, John. Yes, elevators were not required for a lodge in the 80s. We wish we have one now! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay without an elevator. Hope to see you again.

Loved Loved Loved Kandahar!

Posted Jul 15, 2017 on Orbitz
Kandahar is a mountain lodge at Big Mountain in Montana. It's everything you could want in a Montana experience. Beautiful, rustic, clean, great, friendly staff. Their gardens and outdoor eating area is pretty and inviting. Indoor area is rustic and charming. The snug bar is awesome. We did not eat at the restaurant but only because we ran out of time but definitely will on our next trip! Thanks Kandahar.

GREAT HOTEL!!!

Posted Jul 13, 2017
The ONLY negative about this is there are no elevators, we had a lot of luggage, but the front desk did offer to help us with our bags. Staff is friendly. Beautiful hotel and surroundings.

A Wonderful Experience!

Posted Jul 10, 2017 on Hotels
The gentlemen at the front counter, Russ, was great. We received the wrong type of room ( it was not big enough for our family). Immediately, Russ had the room changed and set for us. Then later in the bar, the bartender, Shanjaya, was fantastic! He was friendly, happy to get us whatever we wanted to eat or drink, and we had a great time laughing and talking! This hotel is terrific... we would definitely stay here again!! Another note: food was exceptional!!
