An excellent Lodge

Had a wonderful time at Kandahar Lodge. Excellent meal at their gourmet restaurant. Morning continental breakfast was one of the best ever had. Would go there again.

Three Great Days

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: Service was exceptional. Staff helped us with our baggage without being asked. They knew how to restore internet service by rebooting the modem.
Cons: Parking. Most of the time we had to park in a lot across the street. There were no handicapped spaces
Location: Whitefish was a disappointment. Mediocre, pricey restaurants and tourist shops.
We used the Kandahar as the base for visiting Glacier National Park. The drive to the West Gate was an enjoyable 45 minutes. Just right The Kandahar featured a lounge area with a crackling fire and friendly guest conversation.

8 days at Kandahar Lodge in Whitefish, Mt.

Posted Aug 19, 2016
Pros: Its location ~ 6 miles up a mountain. The landscape, various flowers, the inner/outer wood structure was beautiful. It was clean and quiet.
Cons: Nothing. Accommodations were more than adequate.
Location: Visit downtown Whitefish. Local shops, boutiques and restaurants. Glacier National Park. Trails, falls, rivers. The majestic ecosystem.
This was a leisure trip. The scenery was spectacular. Pictures tell part of this beautiful place and history. The weather was ideal, especially the fog and mist among the mountains. The air was fresh and clean. The waters were so cold and clean. The local people were so friendly and helpful. Traffic moved accordingly throughout Glacier National Park. Seeing various animals on hiking trails was an added benefit. We will return to this Paradise.

Decent Place, Nothing Fancy - Warning: No Elevator

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: Beds were very comfortable, nice location, beautiful views on drive up/down the hill with wildlife along the way. Short drive into Whiitefish.
Cons: Carpet - replace/clean, install elevator. Add garbage disp in kitchenettes. Gen'l building maint. Upgrade to beyond 70s if poss, improve maid serv.
Location: Whitefish is nearby - quaint town with great shopping & dining options. 45-60 min drive to Glacier Nat'l Park- stunning views, wildlife & wildflowers
We expected something nicer for the price.. In reality, this place is an older ski lodge - outdated and in need of some updates and an ELEVATOR (:-)), but not terrible. It's a fine place if your expectations are properly set in advance. It seems that the owners of this property put their current focus on the front of the property - beautiful flowers, etc but the other exterior portions are in need of paint, there was a minor ceiling leak dripping into our room during a rainstorm, etc. The quality of the maid service was very spotty - some days good and others poor. One example: when we arrived, the used coffee filter packet from the previous guest was still in the coffee maker. That seems like a pretty basic thing that should be checked/taken care of - especially between guests.
