Nice lobby area, but noisy room

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: Fireplace lobby, The Snug bar just off the lobby, and the Kandahar Cafe restaurant.
Cons: The easiest improvement would be a better breakfast; even an improved quality of packaged foods and meat cuts.
Location: The upper Village has a couple of other restaurants nearby, but little shopping or groceries. Town is a 20-30 minute bus ride away.
The Kandahar has a great, rustic lobby with a huge wood-burning fireplace. But we found our room particularly noisy. Not only could we clearly hear people in the next room, but our room (114, which should be avoided) got a lot of noise from the plumbing elsewhere in the hotel. Also, the morning breakfast was below the quality of a low-class hotel. While the coffee was good, all the rest of the food consisted of cheap packaged cereals, English muffins, bagels and cakes served with assorted and dry cold cuts. None of the rooms have views. The hotel is some distance from the bottom of the lifts, though the hotel does offer a shuttle to take skiers to the lift and there's a back way to ski down a beginner chair to get back to the hotel. While there is no elevator, the staff was helpful in getting luggage to the room.

Nice Place

Posted Dec 7, 2015
Pros: Staff, beds and the rustic atmosphere.
Nice rustic place to stay, great beds that are very comfortable. Overall a very relaxing place with the lobby fireplace and so many comfy couches. Great staff that go out of their way to help you with whatever you need.

WARNING!!! If booking over 2 people read me!!!!!

Posted Sep 1, 2015 on Hotels
BEWARE!!! All rates are for 2 people only and you will be charged an extra $25 for every additional person on the reservation...regardless of the room size. Only book for the number in your party that you really need. The room was good enough. We had 5 guests (but had reserved for 6), the room is advertised to hold 6. We had towels for 4, place settings for 2, and no bedding for the sofa bed. We called the front desk and they were able to provide the bedding for us. The breakfast was continental-style with bread/cereal/fruit/meat/cheese/eggs available. Clearly that extra service fee of $25 provides no additional service, since we were not provided any additional towels or place settings. All attempts to recover the additional charges for the additional person in the room were futile. Hotels.com provided no help beyond calling the General manager who had no records regarding the number of guests. Really, disappointed with service from both the hotel and Hotels.com

Quaint and Quiet

Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: Rooms were quiet, very clean, and comfortable. The lodge is located above Whitefish, making the temps nice and cool. Hot tub and steam room, too.
Cons: Only one dining option in the lodge; food was good, but more casual fare meant driving into Whitefish.
Location: Shopping in Whitefish, Glacier Nat'l Park 40 min away, hiking trails everywhere, biking, and we rode a ski lift to the top of a nearby mountain.
My wife and I stayed here a few days in August, and had a great time. Most of the staff were very friendly, and could answer nearly any questions. A beautiful view from the entrance of the lodge, and several chairs located just outside to sit and relax in. Had a nice little continental breakfast and a decent workout room.

Ozzie day out

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: He staff where friendly. The bar area is nice
Cons: Air conditioners need to be replaced.
Location: In ski area,
This is a hotel lends itself to winter and skiing.the lodge has no lift and three sets of stairs to carry up your bags.the rooms are dark with wood panelling and the airconditioner is far to noisy it sits in the wall and we needed to turn it of to get some sleep.

Nice place. Very over priced for what you get

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Purchased dinner. Small portions and my order was wrong. Shower had poor water pressure and there was mold in the shower stall. No pool. No sauna. Crappy view from my room.
