Pros: I like that it was relaxed easy going feel
Cons: Some of the facilities (pool table etc) need fixing, updating
Location: Loved the island and went to the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island.
Loved the beautiful island, relaxed feel, lovely staff, native animals, water sports and of course beautiful happy bay.

The room was not serviced properly during our week stay - with sand, dirt etc - bathroom servicing should be standard. Would hate to have been staying there more than a week. Most staff were friendly but others really let the resort down - didn't appear they wanted to help/be there and others were downright rude. Food was good - prices weren't too bad for quality. Did run out of a lot of drink options etc. All in all - a good place if your looking for a cheaper option. Nice and secluded.

Quiet, lovely, affordable, gorgeous views

Pros: Restaurant was lovely. Selection for vegetarians was great! Views from the bar were stunning. Liked that the hotel was affordable and unpretentious.
Cons: Tree maintenance. I was a metre away from being dumped on by a massive tree branch that fell. I've never hurled myself off a sun lounge so fast.
Location: Location was gorgeous, view from all points of the resort were stunning. The surrounds, bushwalks and native wildlife were great. Tours available.
Didn't want the hustle + bustle of somewhere like Hamilton Island or the swishness of a luxury hotel. After a crap year I wanted somewhere affordable, laid back, relaxed, quiet with a slow pace and no cars and Long Island Resort was it! Bar/restaurant staff were nice (apart from one girl serving us obviously grumpy having to work Xmas day - fair enough!) and Watersport Guys were nice - we were too late booking a snorkelling tour after arriving in busy time of year (should've booked tours prior to stay) but they contacted us after a family cancelled and we got in. All beach rooms have great views. Vegetarian selection in restaurant buffets was impressive. Helps when the chef is vegetarian. There's either full buffet; cheaper soup + salad for dinner or a bar menu. We also brought our breakfast with us. 3-4 different types of bushwalks on the island and natives like wallabies, cockatoos and curlews hanging around outside our room much to our delight. Quite liked listening to the Curlew wail in the dead of night. A large goanna on our bushwalk waddling infront of us was also a highlight. Good cross-section of holidaymakers too ie. independent travellers, families, couples. The cons? Not enough sun lounges/hammocks, you just had to take your chance when it came. Even another 2-3 would be good. No snorkelling on the beach, you had to go far out to the reef when tide was out but I was happy enough lounging around and beach swimming anyway. Would happily return.

Good resort right on the beach of turquoise water

The facilities available were quite decent with the water sports, mini golf, tennis courts and pool, however poolside bar was closed almost the entire extent of our stay. Wifi was terrible so couldn't tell any friends or family about the resort. Hiking trails close by were a nice added bonus. The dinner buffet was well worth the price. Staff were helpful but seemed like they could've been friendlier

Location: Walking swimming dining fishing water sports
Thanks to the staff at long island for a great budget holiday over all the whole stay was pleasant and relaxing being a small resort with friendly staff. Relaxing time, competitively priced, silly service

Pros: Nice clean beach front rooms. Plenty of wallabies around.
Cons: Property looks a bit past its prime from the outside of the buildings.
Location: watersports during the day some walks around the island, but they are pretty uneventful
Makes for a relaxing holiday and the facilities were decent, rooms clean etc - no complaints. Definitely pay the little extra and go for the beach front rooms! Bring food from the mainland as you will want to eat during the day but apart from pub food there aren't many light / cheap options. Dinner was buffet style, ok and although not cheap, this is to be expected on an island resort. Watersports are good option to have over there - however we paid for a pretty lousy 'turtle spotting' kayak excursion (would not recommend) and my girlfriend's kayak started sinking in the middle of the bay due to taking water in (!), which made it impossible for her to stay on and had to rescue her to shore on mine (which not being suitable for the extra passenger, also became prone to tipping). Apart from the obvious safety concerns, the gf was rather panicked as she can barely swim but we were not even offered a refund. We brought this up again at reception and they said they would have to speak to the watersport ppl and would call us when the refund was processed (as we were leaving the resort). Needless to say no one ever called and we did not get a refund. Disappointing that a business wishes to ruin their image for the sake of a few bucks. I will make sure to make a scene out of it next time! All in all we stayed 3 nights and had a romantic stay. I wouldn't probably recommend staying any longer, especially as there isn't all that much to do, especially at night being an island resort.

Pros: Nothing this resort needs a lot of improvement. Poor building maintenance.
Cons: I don't know
Location: No comments, totally disappointed.
my experience with Breakfree long island was very disappointing, the service is poor , our room was only cleaned once out of our 4 night stay, nobody checked if we still have toiletries and fresh towels, when I asked the reception staff why our room hasn't been cleaned she said that because we have "express booking " I don't know what she meant by that, then I went down to the reception for fresh towels, the guy who gave me the towel has said that our room will not be cleaned anymore, so disgusting, I felt discriminated. The door was noisy, during the night when it is windy it moves I have to insert a piece of cardboard to keep it steady otherwise we will not be able to sleep well.

A disappointing stay

Pros: The kitchen staff and food.
Cons: Revamp the hotel do up the spa bath, offer entertainment at night. Looks tired and in need of a whole new revamp. The rooms are basic very basic
Location: The location island near to other islands but costly to do other things
Disappointed with the overall experience, the facilities are tired and require updating and need to be cleaned more often. Most of the staff was helpful the only good thing was the food. Rather pricey for a very disappointing and over-rated resort. The wifi coverage broke down and didn't come on line until the day we left. This affected the TV coverage and it really was not a lot to do at night.
