Can't wait to come back!

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Pros: Comfy bed, breakfast, friendly staff
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Location: Check out El Maguey down the street!
My fiance and I stayed at the Wildwood this past Aug for the eclipse. We had such a great experience, we're coming back for our honeymoon! First off, the staff was amazing, Every single person we encountered was warm, friendly, and they seemed genuinely concerned about their guests. Secondly, there's the free breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, an omelet station, and of course pancakes and waffles! So much better than the standard "continental breakfast" offered at most hotels! Finally, the room: the bed was SO comfortable! Much softer than I thought I would like, but I slept better than ever before on it! Other than that, the room was a comfortable size, everything was nice and clean, and I loved the toiletries! The shower gel smelled so nice; light and slightly orange-y.

Best complimentary breakfast we've experienced.

Posted Sep 13, 2017
Pros: The complimentary breakfast.
Cons: The drive through area at registration was small and congested.
Usually we've experienced pretty ordinary continental or buffet breakfasts at hotels, but here they have a great omelette bar in addition to the usual. It was just like being on a cruise!

Where did they get these matresses?

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Pros: Breakfast area was large and nice.
Cons: Replace the mattresses.
Location: Starbucks is within easy walking distance. Benedetto's restaurant was nice.
Three major problems: 1. Matresses sunk in any time you sat or laid on the bed - very uncomfortable. 2. Handicapped shower had very little room for able bodied person to stand and shower - don't know why they gave us handicapped room when we did not request one. 3. Distance from the city - 30 minutes minimum drive to any attractions in the city.

Beds smallish, a bit dated, breakfast was amazing!

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Pros: Beds were comfortable, despite the size issues. But the breakfast spread was the real winner. Stayed at several hotels on a road trip, by far the best
Cons: Can't really improve location so, if anything, I would update the interior a bit. The lobby and halls feel updated but the rooms feel dark and dated.
Location: Nothing really. Highway is 15 minutes away. St Louis is 30 minutes. It is a good stop for an overnight on a road trip but otherwise nothing around
Stayed for two nights. Overall experience was great. Staff was very nice. The pool was warm. Breakfast spread was amazing! Hard to recommend beds for more than one adult as they are so pillowy, they feel a bit like comfortable air mattresses with the way minor movements move all of the bed. The style of the hotel and interior do feel somewhat dated and dark. The location is way out of the way. Nowhere near highways or really anything. This location issue is really the only reason I can't recommend this for the price. It takes 15 minutes to get to a major highway from the hotel which is just too far out of the way if the hotel itself is not your destination.

Really nice hotel not too far from DT St Louis

Posted Aug 26, 2017
We came to make a 4 day trip to end with the eclipse viewing, and picked this hotel because it was close to Six Flags which we ended up not going to because it was too hot! Still the things we did downtown St. Louis didn't seem too far away. Pool is small and only 3 1/2 feet deep but good enough for our kids to play in. The breakfast (included with stay) was top notch. First off it's on the other side of the hotel, but on the way you get to enjoy the real art (for sale) on the walls, and the sunrise through east facing windows. It is in what looks like a ballroom, and includes hot eggs/sausage/biscuits and gravy, as well as make your own pancakes/waffles, but what really made it special was the chef making omlettes right there for you with an array of add in veggies, meat and cheeses. The hotel is in a little square that is very walkable, with restaurants, shops, grocery, and gardens, everything you could possibly need, and very cute. My only complaint was the beds were way too soft for me. Even the box spring seemed broken down and I thought I might fall out if I got too close to the edge, every little movement made it shake. despite this I'd definitely recommend, even if most of your activities are in the city.
