This property is very close to all major attractions in the area; a quiet area away from the congestion of Richmond Road yet a short walk to the restored section of CW. Planning on returning to enjoy the golfing opportunities in the immediate region.

Woodlands overall is a good place to stay. Good continental breakfast, clean property, easy to park and friendly staff. The beds are not exceptionally comfortable but overall it was a good stay with my family.

The variety of breakfast choices was good. The warm breakfast choice was prepackaged. The Visitors Center was connected to the property where you can buy tickets at a reduced price as a guest of the resort. Colonial Williamsburg is about 3/4 mi walk. There are a few small hills, but there are also benches. Or there is a bus. We were there in the early spring, so we didn’t take advantage of the outdoor amenities. When, we go back we will stay there again.

Very friendly staff, the shuttle service to all the attractions was so convenient. I would definitely recommend to others and would plan a longer stay next time.

We stayed for a few nights. We picked this place due to the convenience of the colonial Williamsburg shuttles/visitor center. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Although it was a bit chilly during our stay there are some outdoor activities (like mini-golf, table tennis,etc) on site which we made use of during some downtime. The only slight was the breakfast. My guess is the hotel was pretty full during our stay as there were several large groups there too. But they really need more room/tables in breakfast area. No matter what time we’d head down, we found ourselves unable to grab a table just to sit down for 10 minutes to eat. most people would just stand by an end table or have to take back to their room. The breakfast is pretty basic. But at least they never ran out of anything.

It was a beautiful area around the hotel and was very convenient to colonial Williamsburg. Maria in the breakfast area was especially helpful to my daughter who needs gluten free food. Great stay!

I love the hotel. It was very connivence to get shuttle bus between Amtrak station, visitor center and the hotel. I would recommend if you travel by Amtrak to get here. The shuttle bus is free of charge. The hotel will give you a free ticket to visit Colonial Williamsburg.

Lovely for families
This was our first time staying at Woodlands as my husband and I have been "trying out" the accommodations at Colonial Williamsburg. This is definitely a family and dog friendly hotel. One small issue for us was the location from Duke of Gloucester. The Woodlands is conveniently located next to the Visitor's Center, but is about a 10 minute walk from the historic sites. This isnt necessarily bad unless you like to enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants. The new shuttle schedule doesn’t run as late as it used to, so we ended up driving out for dinner. We also weren't too impressed with the breakfast, so we ended up grabbing breakfast elsewhere. The king suite was lovely as we enjoyed having a separate living area from the bedroom. Overall it was a nice stay, but we will probably go back to The Williamsburg Lodge or the Colonial Houses.

Great location and beautiful lobby. Quick and easy access to the Visitors Center. One draw for us was that breakfast was included with the cost of the room. Although convenient, the breakfast was mostly prepackaged and the serve-yourself layout was not well-organized. The lobby, hallways, and dining area were always full of young children who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. I would recommend this hotel for families traveling with children, but I wouldn’t recommend it for adults looking for a relaxing or romantic getaway.

Because cell service is poor in the hotel, having good wifi is important. Your WiFi was spotty and never strong. First floor room should have privacy sheers on windows so you can open the curtains for light.

Good hotel but bad WiFi
Mostly good as a hotel experience, but the Wifi was TERRIBLE. This is reason enough not to go. Also, there is a “resort fee” so your breakfast isn’t really free.

Worth every penny
We loved the resort it was very festive for the holiday season! The kids had a blast and we couldnt get them to leave the water park. We really enjoyed that you can get there early and use the waterpark even if your room isn’t ready and when you check out you can still use the water park for that day! We did the cabin theme room which was nice and it had a fireplace which made it super cozy.
